Measuring Tape Device with Mechanical Counter
A measuring tape device with mechanical counter is disclosed. Said invention comprised of a conventional tape measure having a plurality of knob and/or disc type counters arranged on one side. Said counters having metric and imperial indicia allowing a user to spin them and temporarily set them into a desired counting arrangement based upon the measurement observed on the device tape. Counting discs and knobs being temporarily set by means of ball and spring assemblies positioned behind each counter. An object of the invention is to enhance the accuracy and precision of existing, conventional tape measures by allowing users to record measurements gleaned from a tape directly on the device rather than writing it down on a separate piece of paper that may lead to potential recording errors.
TAPE MEASURE AND RECORDER DEVICE
An apparatus for measuring a distance from the apparatus to an object; the apparatus includes a housing, a retractable-tape, a laser-rangefinder, a controller, a digital-display, and a power supply. The apparatus is useful for providing an improved measuring apparatus for measuring the distance, and for recording a plurality of distances within the apparatus.
LENGTH MEASURING DEVICE
A length measuring device is provided, which includes a case, a first rotating part configured to rotate while a portion of a circumference thereof exposed outside the case is in contact with a measured object, a rotation interfering part configured to interfere with an inertial rotation of the first rotating part, and a control part configured to calculate a length measurement using an amount of rotation of the first rotating part.
LENGTH MEASURING DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREOF
Provided is a length measuring device having an automatic zero point adjusting function and a control method thereof. The length measuring device includes a line to which a hook part is attached at one end, a case having an opening formed therein, a rotating part to be rotated according to extraction or retraction of the line out of or into the case through the opening, a rotation sensing part which senses a rotation of the rotating part, and a control part which converts an amount of rotation of the rotating part into a length measurement value and resets the converted length measurement value to a predetermined value when the length measuring device is in a first state.
Measurement devices and methods
A device that includes or is attachable to a tape measure, that allows a user to take a measurement using the tape measure without requiring reference to measurement indicia. Such a device may include a base member, a housing on the base member including a slot for slidably receiving a tape of the tape measure when inserted through the slot of the housing during use, an elastomeric gripping layer positioned in the housing, positioned to contact a side of the tape when the tape is locked in a given position (e.g., given extension) during use, a movable pressure locking wedge positioned within the housing so that the tape is pinched between the wedge and another surface (the gripping layer is involved in such pinching), and a handle operable to move the wedge which allows selective locking of the tape between the wedge and other surface upon actuation of the handle.
Integral Finger Brake Opening
A tape measure includes a housing with first and second housing portions; a reel configured to be secured between the first and second housing portions, the reel containing a tape blade wound thereon and partially extending therefrom terminating in a hook portion; and an integral component coupled to the first and second housing portions, including an aperture defining a finger brake, the finger brake exposing the tape blade for engagement by a user. The tape blade is biased to retract into the housing, winding around the reel, such that in a fully retracted position the hook portion abuts the portion of the mouth of the tape measure. In an extended position the tape blade is unwound from the reel such that the hook extends away from the integral component. An integral component including an aperture defining a tape measure mouth and a light emitter receiving slot is also disclosed.

Device for obtaining accurate measurements from a flexible tape measure
A device (16) for obtaining accurate measurements from a flexible tape measure (2), with the measurements being from a first position (8) to a second position and wherein the second position (12) requires the tape measure (2) to be bent through an angle, the device (16) comprising: (i) a body portion (18) for receiving the tape measure (2); (ii) securing means (20) for securing the device (16) to the tape measure (2); (iii) a measurement formation (22) which is positionable at the second position (12), and the device (16) being such that: (iv) the device (16) is positionable on the tape measure (2) with the measurement formation (22) at the second position (12); (v) the securing means (20) temporarily secures the device (16) without moving with respect to the tape measure (2), whereby the tape measure (2) is removable from the second position (12) and is no longer bent through the angle; and (vi) the measurement from the first position (8) to the second position (12) is the same as a measurement from the first position (8) to the measurement formation (22) whereby the measurement from the first position (8) to the second position (12) is obtainable without the tape measure (2) being bent through the angle at the time of the measurement.

System and method for efficient material measurement and conversion
Exemplary embodiments of a Smart Cut system and method for efficiently and accurately converting material length using a powered saw, such as a miter saw, are disclosed. Certain embodiments are configured such that a user of a miter saw may position a board or other material beneath the miter saw blade, and cut the material to a desired length, without any need to mark a measurement on the material prior to cutting it. It is an advantage of certain embodiments that a typical retractable tape measurement device, a portable tool that is ubiquitous in the construction industry, may be leveraged to indicate proper positioning of the material prior to cutting.
