Hand-Held Device for Fluorescence Excitation and for Irradiating Microorganisms in the Mouth and Throat
The invention relates to a hand-held device for excitation and irradiation of pathogenic microorganisms in the mouth and throat, e.g. a toothbrush comprising at least one excitation light source in the short-wave visible spectral range for auto-fluorescence excitation of the pathogenic microorganisms, at least one primary irradiation light source in the red spectral range for primary irradiation of the pathogenic microorganisms and for transillumination, and optionally at least one secondary irradiation light source in the visible spectral range for secondary irradiation of the pathogenic microorganisms, wherein the irradiation light sources have spectral components that can be absorbed by endogenous porphyrins, which are produced by the pathogenic microorganisms, whereby a fluorescence excitation and an inactivation of the pathogenic microorganisms occurs on the basis of subsequent processes. In order to prevent the unintentional irradiation of the eyes, a pressure sensor is designed to release higher light intensities only once a contact pressure has been measured. In addition, the radiation must leave the hand-held device in a divergent manner. The spatially resolved detection of the fluorescence of the pathogenic microorganisms can optionally be used to induce the inactivation of the bacteria by targeted irradiation in the fluorescent range.
Light Emitting Oral Care Implement
An oral care product array includes a handle component and multiple refill components therefor. The handle component includes a power source. A first refill component includes a first light generating module which emits light in a first spectrum from the first refill component. A second refill component includes a second light generating module which emits light in a second spectrum from the second refill component. Each refill component has a coupled state, when coupled to the handle component, and a decoupled state, when decoupled from the handle component. When the first refill component is in the coupled state, the first light generating module is powered by the power source to emit light in the first spectrum. When the second refill component is in the coupled state, the second light generating module is powered by the power source to emit light in the second spectrum.
CLEANING AND DISINFECTING ITEMS
Devices, systems and methods for cleaning and disinfecting footwear items are disclosed herein. In an aspect, an apparatus is disclosed comprising an ultraviolet light element configured to emit ultraviolet light toward a top covering element configured to receive one or more contaminated item, wherein the ultraviolet light element is located within a lower frame element. In another aspect, a grating element is disclosed comprising a frame of bars configured to support the one or more contaminated item; wherein the grating element is a ceiling enclosure portion of the lower frame element. In yet another aspect, a brush frame element mounted to an underside of the grating element is disclosed, wherein the brush frame element comprises a set of brush strips configured to protrude through at least one space between the frame bars.
Electric toothbrush, brush unit, and method for operating an electric toothbrush
In one embodiment, the invention can be an electric toothbrush including a trajectory detecting module configured to detect a trajectory of movement of a brush, the trajectory including a plurality of positions; an attitude detecting module configured to detect an attitude of the brush; a site estimating module configured to estimate a brushing site for each of the plurality of positions of the trajectory, each estimated brushing site being based on the trajectory detected by the trajectory detecting module; and a back most tooth detecting module configured to detect a back most tooth based on a change of the attitude detected by the attitude detecting module; wherein the site estimating module is further configured to correct the estimated brushing site for each of the plurality of positions of the trajectory based on the estimated site of the detected back most tooth.
Plaque detecting device and toothbrush
The plaque detecting device of the present invention comprises a light emitting unit (450) which irradiates ultraviolet or blue excitation light (L) toward the tooth surface (99a), and a first and second light receiving units (402) which receive radiated light (L) from the tooth surface (99a). The first light receiving unit extracts the spectral component of a first wavelength region including the wavelength range of fluorescent light specific to plaque from the radiated light (L), and obtains a first output value corresponding to the intensity of that spectral component. The second light receiving unit extracts, from the radiated light (L), the spectral component of a second wavelength region containing the wavelength range of the fluorescent light specific to enamel and having a predetermined lower limit wavelength below the lower limit wavelength of the first wavelength region, and obtains a second output value corresponding to the intensity of this spectral component. Determination of the relative magnitude of the ratio between the first output value and the second output value as compared to a first threshold value is performed. Determination of the relative magnitude of the difference between the first output value and the second output value as compared to a second threshold value is performed.
