Light measurement and/or control translation for daylighting
09804024 · 2017-10-31 · ·

Systems and methods are disclosed to translate a desired light level at a particular task location to a light level measured by a light sensor at a non-task location such as a wall location or a light switch location. For example, the light measured on the wall may be used to accomplish daylighting energy savings while maintaining a relatively constant illuminance value at the task location. Alternatively or additionally, up/down button presses at the wall location may be used to provide constant or consistent illuminance changes at the task location.

RADIANCE SENSOR AND RADIANCE RECONSTRUCTION METHOD
20170307439 · 2017-10-26 ·

A radiance sensor includes a memory and a microprocessor. The memory stores non-transitory computer-readable instructions and adapted to store a plurality of electrical signals output from a photodetector array in response to electromagnetic radiation transmitted through a lenslet array and incident on the photodetector array. The microprocessor is adapted to execute the instructions to (i) determine irradiance of the electromagnetic radiation in a detector plane from the plurality of electrical signals, each electrical signal having generated by a respective one of a plurality of photodetectors of the photodetector array, and (ii) reconstruct, from the determined irradiance, the 4D-radiance in an input plane, the lenslet array being between the input plane and the detector plane.

Light sensing device for sensing ambient light intensity

The invention relates to a light sensing device for sensing ambient light intensity, comprising at least one ambient light sensor and an occlusion detector for detecting an object occluding the ambient light sensor. The invention is further related to a corresponding method for sensing ambient light intensity.

Calibration of microscopy systems

Approaches are disclosed for calibrating a plurality of imaging devices, such as microscopes. In certain implementations, a calibration plate is employed that include a variety of calibration features. Imaging devices calibrated in accordance with the present approaches may be used to generate images having consistent attributes, such as brightness, regardless of which imaging device is employed.

Computer-implemented method and system for preventing sight deterioration caused by prolonged use of electronic visual displays in low-light conditions

A system and method for preventing sight deterioration caused by prolonged use of electronic visual displays in low-light conditions is provided. The system includes a camera directed towards a user, a processing circuitry, control circuitry and, optionally, a light sensor. The processing circuitry determines the illuminance of a user's face, and in case it falls outside of a predefined range (putting the user at risk of future sight deterioration and progression of myopia), the device stores the illuminance data and/or sends a control signal to circuitry operative to notify the user. If processing circuitry determines that the illuminance is equal or greater than the predefined illuminance, the circuitry operative can stop the notification. The notification can be modulated by any combination of the illuminance and the time of use.

Computing device and method for detecting lightness of lighting device

A computing device and a method detect a lightness of a lighting device. The computing device captures an image of the lighting device and parses the image to obtain a pixel gray value of each lighting dot of the lighting device. The computing device obtains detection information of the lighting device according to the pixel gray value of each lighting dot of the lighting device. The computing device generates a detection report of the lighting device according to the detection information of the lighting device.

Light sensor calibration system and method

A method and a lighting control system for automatically determining a calibration curve for use in daylight harvesting applications. The lighting control system comprises a light sensor configured for recording light levels and a load controller configured for provide a dimmed output to a lighting load. The calibration curve comprises a calibration slope (S.sub.C) defined by a calibration coordinate (C.sub.C) and a night coordinate (C.sub.N). The calibration coordinate (C.sub.C) comprises a calibration dimming level (D.sub.C) set by a user and a calibration light level (L.sub.C) recorded by the light sensor when the lighting load is set to the calibration dimming level (D.sub.C). The night coordinate (C.sub.N) comprises a night scene dimming level (D.sub.N) and a night scene light level (L.sub.N), wherein the night scene light level (L.sub.N) comprises a difference between a sunlight plus night scene light level (L.sub.NS) recorded by the light sensor when the lighting load is set to the night scene dimming level (D.sub.N) and a sunlight level (L.sub.S) recorded by the light sensor when the lighting load is turned off.

METHOD FOR MONITORING RADIATION

A method for monitoring radiation by an optical sensor which generates a signal, such as a shut-off signal, which influences the radiation when subjected to radiation. A sensor with dark current pulses is used, which are assessed as a functional capability signal of the sensor.

Techniques for lumen maintenance and color shift compensation
09743483 · 2017-08-22 · ·

Techniques are disclosed for maintaining consistent lumen output of a lighting assembly over time. By maintaining a consistent lumen output, it is possible to maintain acceptable color stability where color mixing of multiple outputs is used. The lighting assembly may be any lighting configuration that might suffer from lumen depreciation and/or color drift over time, and may include any type(s) of light source(s) that may be monitored and driven accordingly. The lighting assembly, in addition to light source(s), includes a photo detector and a directed light source, such as a laser. The directed light source provides a golden sample for use in calibrating the photo detector, which in turn monitors lumen output of the light source(s). Drive signals are adjusted to account for lumen depreciation of the monitored light source(s).
