OPTICAL SPECTROMETER WITH HIGH-EFFICIENCY OPTICAL COUPLING
One embodiment provides an optical spectrometer. The optical spectrometer can include a lens-and-filter system configured to collect light scattered from a sample, a spot converter configured to convert a substantially circular beam outputted from the lens-and-filter system into a substantially rectangular beam, and a slit comprising a rectangular aperture to allow a predetermined portion of the substantially rectangular beam to enter the rectangular aperture while blocking noise. The slit can further include at least one microelectromechanical systems (MEMS)-based movable structure configured to adjust a width of the rectangular aperture.
SPECTROMETRY DEVICE
A spectrometry device wherein light rays emitted from an object face measurement point combine into one parallel light beam by an objective lens, this is divided into a first and second light beam by a phase shifter, and the first and second light beam emit toward a light-receiving face of a photodetector while providing an optical path length difference. A light-shielding plate is arranged on a face optically conjugate the object face respective to the objective lens, and only light passed through translucent portions of the light-shielding plate is directed to the objective lens. A lateral length of each light-shielding plate translucent portion and the interval between two adjacent translucent portions are based on the objective lens focal length, the distance from the phase shifter to the photodetector light-receiving face, a photodetector pixel pitch, a pixel length, and a predetermined wavelength range of the light emitted from the measurement point.
Hyperspectral sensing system and methods
A method for retrieving a corrected spectrum from a measured spectrum (e.g., retrieving a top-of-water spectrum from a measured top-of-atmosphere spectrum) includes creating a scene-specific model of a region of interest and performing a ray-tracing simulation to simulate rays of light that would reach an airborne (or spaceborne) sensor. The region of interest can be an optically complex area such as an inland or coastal body of water. Based on the ray-tracing simulation, a scene-specific correction for unwanted effects (e.g., adjacency effects, variable atmospheric conditions, and/or other suitable effects) is obtained. A corrected spectrum is obtained by correcting the measured spectrum using the scene-specific correction. The ray-tracing simulation may be performed using a graphical processing unit, allowing the scene-specific correction to be performed in real time or near real time.

Systems, methods, and apparatus for radiation detection
A radiation detection technique employs field enhancing structures and electroluminescent materials to converts incident Terahertz (THz) radiation into visible light and/or infrared light. In this technique, the field-enhancing structures, such as split ring resonators or micro-slits, enhances the electric field of incoming THz light within a local area, where the electroluminescent material is applied. The enhanced electric field then induces the electroluminescent material to emit visible and/or infrared light via electroluminescent process. A detector such as avalanche photodiode can detect and measure the emitted light. This technique allows cost-effective detection of THz radiation at room temperatures.
