The male insert includes a flange configured to engage an exterior surface of the at least one sidewall around the opening, a stem configured to extend through the opening and into the interior space, and a central opening. The measurement system also includes a female insert configured to be detachably coupled to the male insert inside the interior space, and an opto-electronic sensor configured to be housed inside central opening along the stem of the male insert. The measurement system defines a substantially unobstructed viewport for the opto-electronic sensor.

A device for measuring the temperature of a melt, particularly of a molten metal, includes an optical fiber and a guiding tube having an immersion end and a second end opposite to the immersion end. The optical fiber is partially arranged in the guiding tube. An inner diameter of the guiding tube is larger than an outer diameter of the optical fiber. A first plug is arranged at the immersion end of or within the guiding tube proximate the immersion end of the guiding tube. The optical fiber is fed through the first plug and the first plug reduces a gap between the optical fiber and the guiding tube.

One layer is a metal pipe, also called metal jacket or metal tube. An intermediate layer, also called filler, is arranged beneath the metal tube. The intermediate layer is a rope.

Alternatively the housing defines first and second internal chambers spaced along a longitudinal axis of the apparatus separated by an internal wall comprising a second aperture extending therethrough; where the thermal imaging camera is mounted within the second internal chamber, with the camera lens aligned with the two apertures. Gas and fluid injection portions are connected to the first internal chamber to direct gas into the first chamber; and fluid towards the lens to clean the lens.
