ULTRASONIC INSPECTION APPARATUS AND ULTRASONIC INSPECTION METHOD
An ultrasonic inspection apparatus includes: an acquisition unit acquiring a signal indicating a fundamental wave and a second harmonic of an ultrasonic wave, which are obtained by the ultrasonic wave being scanned over an inspection object through a medium, at each scanning position; a calculation unit calculating a value obtained by dividing a second harmonic amplitude by a square of a fundamental wave amplitude, at each scanning position; and an output unit outputting information on a defect of the inspection object, based on the value obtained by dividing the second harmonic amplitude by the square of the fundamental wave amplitude.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REAL-TIME VISUALIZATION OF DEFECTS IN A MATERIAL
The present disclosure provides a system and method for real-time visualization of a material during ultrasonic non-destructive testing. The system includes a graphical user interface (GUI) capable of showing a three-dimensional (3-D) image of a composite laminate constructed of a series of two-dimensional (2-D) cross sections. The GUI is capable of displaying the 3-D image as each additional 2-D cross section is scanned by an ultrasonic testing apparatus in real time or near real time, including probable defect regions that contain a flaw such as an air pocket, delamination, or foreign object within the composite. Furthermore, in one embodiment, the system includes an artificial intelligence capable of highlighting foreign objects within the 3-D image in real time or near real time and providing data regarding each object area, such as the depth, size, and/or type of each defect.
DEVICE, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IMAGING DEFECTS IN A STRUCTURE BY TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING MECHANICAL WAVES IN THIS STRUCTURE
A device for imaging defects in a structure includes N transmitters and P receivers to be distributed over at least one surface of the structure and a central unit controlling the transmitters and receivers to sequentially record QNP signals (S) obtained from electrical signals provided by the receivers of Q different transmitter/receiver pairs, after reception of mechanical waves transmitted by the transmitters of these Q pairs. It further stores Q first and Q second corresponding reference signals (S.sub.REF1, S.sub.REF2), representative of the structure without defects and differing by random noise. A central processing unit is programmed to: correlate each signal obtained with the corresponding first reference signal, in such a way as to construct an image of probabilities of defects; correlate each first reference signal with the corresponding second reference signal, in such a way as to construct a reference noisy image; and subtract the reference noisy image from the image of probabilities of defects.
Method and device for detecting and characterizing a reflecting element in an object
A method and device are provided for determining a mode of detection of an element that reflects ultrasonic waves, wherein it comprises at least the following steps: For each point P of a given volume Zr, determining an ultrasonic field value A.sub.ij.sup.m (P) for N emitter-receiver pairs (i, j) and for one detection mode m, computing a number

Methods and device for checking value documents
A method for examining a value document includes emitting ultrasonic pulses onto several locations on the value document. An echo pulse arises by reflection of at least a portion of a respective ultrasonic pulse at the value document. The echo pulses are received while forming echo values, and from the echo values at least a characteristic value is established as to the wrinkledness of the value document. As apparatus is provided for carrying out the method.
