Method for quantitating retail paper towel lint
A method for quantitating the amount of lint shed from a paper towel by preparing a sample of paper towel to be analyzed, depositing lint from the sample onto a surface, which has been cleaned, by moving the sample thereupon in a specific pattern comprising a plurality of directional changes, collecting the lint deposited on the surface, and determining the amount of collected lint.
DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MEASURING ABSORBENT HYGIENE PRODUCTS
A device for measuring absorbent bodies that are spaced from each other on a continuous web comprises at least two microwave resonators configured to measure values of a shift of a resonance frequency and a spreading of a resonance frequency. The continuous web moves through the at least two microwave resonators and the at least two microwave resonators are positioned at an offset with respect to each other in the transverse and transport direction relative to a direction of transport of the continuous web in order to measure the entire width of the continuous web. At least one of a moisture and a density of the absorbent bodies is determined using the at least two microwave resonators to continuously determine the values of the shift of the resonance frequency and the spreading of the resonance frequency.
SYSTEM FOR TEAR ANALYSIS OF FILMS
A method and a system for analyzing a physical characteristic of a film sample are described herein. The system includes a material holder system configured to hold the film sample; and a tear analysis device configured to tear the film sample and measure a characteristic of the tear. The movable system is configured to move the film sample in the material holder system to the tear analysis device.
Method for detecting a deflection, scanning apparatus, and use of a blocking device for detecting a deflection
A method for detecting a deflection between a source module and a detection module in a scanning apparatus and configured as a sensor pair for scanning transmission measurement of sheet material being transported in a machine direction through a sensing gap formed between the source module and the detection module. The source module is arranged on a first side of the sensing gap and emits a sensing radiation or sensing energy radiation towards the sensing gap, and the detection module is arranged on a second side of the sensing gap opposite to the first side and detects the radiation from the source module and transmitted through the sensing gap. The method includes: attaching a removable blocking device to the detection module; and performing a partially-blocked scanning process during which the source module and the detection module are jointly moved in a cross direction of the scanning apparatus.
Board testing apparatus
A board testing apparatus and method and in particular a testing apparatus for testing a board made of a corrugated material, such as corrugated cardboard, for failure characteristics. The method comprises taking a corrugated board from a corrugator or converter, locating at least a part of the board into a testing machine, performing a non-destructive compression test on a sample region of the part of the board within the machine and providing a compression test characteristic reading of that region of the board, comparing that characteristic reading against a predefined acceptable compression test characteristic reading that design of corrugated board should have and concluding from the comparison as to whether the board, or that sample region of the board, meets a required compression stiffness parameter.
Formation detection system and a process of controlling
A formation detection system comprising: (a) one or more sensors and (b) one or more lights that illuminate a location of interest so that the one or more sensors can monitor the location of interest; wherein one of the one or more sensors are located substantially planar with a wire of a paper machine and proximate to a slice opening so that the one of the one or more sensors is adjacent to a cut through so that the one of the one or more sensors is capable of measuring stock above the wire and removed water below the wire, and wherein the one of the one or more sensors is capable of measuring a distance between an impingement location of a stock jet and the wire from a forming board.
Spectral-characteristic acquisition apparatus and method of obtaining spectral characteristics
A spectral-characteristic acquisition apparatus and a method of obtaining spectral characteristics. The spectral-characteristic acquisition apparatus includes a conveyor including a first conveyance roller pair disposed in a conveyance direction in which an object is conveyed and a second conveyance roller pair disposed downstream from the first conveyance roller pair in the conveyance direction, a sensor to detect that the object has reached the second conveyance roller pair, circuitry to control the second conveyance roller pair to drive by a predetermined amount with a driving force greater than a driving force of the first conveyance roller pair upon detecting that the object has reached the second conveyance roller pair by the sensor and to stop driving, and a color data obtainer to obtain color data from the object at a position where the object stops moving. In the spectral-characteristic acquisition apparatus, the circuitry estimates a spectral characteristic of the object.
METHOD AND APPARATUS OF MEASURING PROPERTIES OF A MOVING SHEET
A method of measuring properties of a moving cellulose, paper or board sheet. A first parameter of a first resonance caused by the moving sheet in a frequency range 1 GHz to 25 GHz of electromagnetic radiation is measured. A second parameter of an electromagnetic signal transmitted between at least a pair of transceiver parts of a transceiver sensor located on opposite sides of the moving sheet through the moving sheet is measured in a frequency range 25 GHz to 1000 GHz. A minimum difference between the frequency ranges related to the first parameter and the second parameter being at least 5 GHz. Both the dry stuff content and the weight of water per unit of area are determined on the basis of the first parameter, the second parameter and available information related to a distance travelled by the electromagnetic signal.
Monitoring system for monitoring the conditions of a band circulating in a paper making machine and paper making machine comprising said system
A monitoring system for monitoring the conditions of a band circulating in a paper making machine is provided with: a detecting device configured to detect at least one parameter indicative of the conditions of the band; and with a moving assembly configured to move the detecting device along a direction transversal to the circulating direction of the band and comprising a cable moving device.
Measuring device
A measuring device includes: an irradiator that irradiates electromagnetic waves to an inspection object; a light collector having a reflecting surface that guides, to a light-collecting surface, electromagnetic waves whose incident angle with respect to an incident end facing the inspection object is within a predetermined angle, among the electromagnetic waves that have been transmitted through the inspection object; and a detector that detects the electromagnetic waves guided to the light-collecting surface. The measuring device measures a characteristic of the inspection object based on the detected electromagnetic waves.
