System and method for characterizing the equibiaxial compressive strength of 2D woven composites

A method and system for the characterization of equibiaxial compressive strength in 2D woven composites, such as carbon fiber reinforced laminate composites, is disclosed using induced biaxial flexure, the strain measurements from which are used to determine the equibiaxial compressive strength of the composite.

TEST METHOD FOR EVALUATING TEXTILE FABRIC PERFORMANCE
20220026327 · 2022-01-27 ·

A method evaluating a strength of a textile for use in articles of clothing representative of normal wear and tear and comprising testing samples including the textile treated with an application of polyethylene, the untreated textile, and/or the textile being washed and dried one or more times; and/or where the textile has been conditioned. Each sample tested is weighed prior to and after abrasion resistance testing is conducted on each sample. The samples are each abraded with an abrasion resistance testing machine that has been modified with ISO test heads and an abrasive surface having a plurality of abrasion layers thereon. A number of rubs of abrasion between the abrasive surface and the test sample is pre-selected such that the test is run until the selected number of rubs have been completed. A bursting strength test can be further conducted on abraded areas of the testing samples.

WASH CYCLE INDICATOR FOR TEXTILE GARMENTS

A textile wash cycle indicator system comprising a textile fiber or yarn or section comprising a dye system comprising at least one dye, the dye system configured to release an amount of the at least one dye during each consecutive wash cycle; wherein the release of the amount of the at least one dye correlates with the consecutive wash cycles, and a method of using same.

Fabric testing hardware

A material testing apparatus comprising a frame having three or more tracks, and a plurality of mounts positioned within the three or more tracks. The mounts including an attachment mechanism to attach the mounts to a material being tested. The mounts including a force measurement elements. Some of the mounts free mounts that move in a track slot within the track, the free mounts free to move to any position within the track slot. The apparatus further comprising a data collector to collect data from the force measurement elements in the mounts when the material is placed under stress, to characterize the material.

Modulable system for identifying and certifying garments
11219926 · 2022-01-11 · ·

Modulable system for identifying and certifying garments, suitable to analyze a garment or an accessory inside a tunnel in which a common movement mechanism transports the garments. The tunnel has image capturing devices, light source and a common automatic gripping mechanism. Each garment has an identification device recognized by an identification sensor in the tunnel. The analysis is performed by software and includes: identification, by associating the garment with a wearer; entry, in which the garment is introduced inside the tunnel; acquisition of the images, in which image capturing devices take at least one pair of photographs; analysis, in which the software analyzes the images; assessment, in which the common dedicated software processes the data and indicates whether the garment meets the pre-set parameters; saving in a memory; sorting the approved garments from those that have been rejected. The assessment parameters are changeable through a special adjustment device.

METHOD OF QUANTIFYING THE REMOVAL OF HYDROCARBON COMPONENT FROM A SOILED FABRIC BY A WASHING PROCESS

A method of quantifying the removal of hydrocarbon component from a soiled fabric by a washing process, wherein the soiled fabric includes at least about 0.5 wt % hydrocarbon component wherein the method uses near infra-red (NIR) analysis, wherein the method includes the steps of: (a) performing non-contact NIR analysis of the soiled fabric to determine the concentration of hydrocarbon component present on the soiled fabric at multiple points; (b) washing the soiled fabric to obtain a washed fabric; (c) performing non-contact NIR analysis of the washed fabric to determine the concentration of hydrocarbon component present on the washed fabric at the same multiple points that were used in step (a); and (d) quantifying the removal of hydrocarbon component from the soiled fabric by the washing process.
