Methods for Characterizing Branching Distribution in Polymers
New metrics are disclosed for characterizing polyethylene copolymers which can be computed from the Cross-Fractionation Chromatography data of these polymers. These metrics are able to quantify the Broad Orthogonal Composition Distribution (BOCD) character of the polymers, and they can be used to discriminate polymers with an enhanced BOCD character from polymers that have the BOCD character to a lesser extent or from polymers that have the conventional molecular weight distribution and/or branching distribution.
Resin Flow Analysis Method and Non-Transitory Computer-Readable Recording Medium
A resin flow analysis method includes dividing a mold space model into small elements, acquiring a penetration coefficient, acquiring a flow conductance, and performing flow analysis of a resin in each of the small elements in the mold space model based on a first relational expression of the small elements of a base material portion relating to the penetration coefficient and a second relational expression of the small elements of a space portion relating to the flow conductance.
Methods for measuring properties in crosslinked polycarbonate
Methods for measuring certain properties of a crosslinked polycarbonate are disclosed. The storage modulus of a crosslinked polycarbonate is measured over a specified temperature range, and the average magnitude of the storage modulus over that temperature range is obtained. The average magnitude can be correlated to both crosslinking within the polycarbonate, and to the flame performance of the crosslinked polycarbonate.

An analysis data processing method for processing analysis data collected with an analyzing device for each of a plurality of samples, by applying an analytical technique using statistical machine learning to multidimensional analysis data formed by output values obtained from a plurality of channels of a multichannel detector provided in the analyzing device, the method including: acquiring a non-linear regression or non-linear discrimination function expressing analysis data obtained for known samples; calculating a contribution value of each of the output values obtained from the plurality of channels forming the analysis data of the known samples, to the acquired non-linear regression or non-linear discrimination function, based on a differential value of the non-linear regression function or non-linear discrimination function; and identifying one or more of the plurality of channels of the detector, which are to be used for processing analysis data obtained for an unknown sample, based on the contribution value.
A METHOD AND A DETECTION DEVICE FOR EVALUATING THE DISTRIBUTION, DENSITY AND ORIENTATION OF FERROMAGNETIC, ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE FIBRES IN A COMPOSITE MATERIAL
A method and a device for evaluating the distribution and orientation of ferromagnetic, electrically conductive fibres in a composite material are disclosed. The principle consists in repeatable evaluation of the density of ferromagnetic, electrically conductive fibres at the measured location, and such evaluation is performed within a guaranteed scatter range of the measured data and at a guaranteed accuracy rate. A device to perform the method comprises a C, U or E-shaped ferromagnetic core (1) with distributed or uniform winding of the electric coil (2), where the ferromagnetic core (1) exhibits dimensions A, B, and C, for which we have C≧3B and B≈A, where A denotes the width of an arm (1.2), B represents the depth of an arm (1.2), and C is the length of the base (1.1). The ferromagnetic core (1) is equipped with at least two electric coils (2) and, to ensure strong electromagnetic coupling on the ferromagnetic core (1), the winding of the electric coil (2) is configured on both arms of the ferromagnetic core (1). The leads of the electric coil (2) winding are, at the winding terminals (3), connected to an external electric circuit (17) including an electric voltage generator (16) with adjustable frequency f and a measuring device (18).
SPECIFIC BROMINE-BASED FLAME RETARDANT DETERMINATION METHOD AND DETERMINATION APPARATUS
A resin is irradiated with an infrared ray, and a reflected ray from the resin irradiated with the infrared ray is received. In a reflection or absorption spectrum obtained by the reflected ray, a difference of a reflection intensity in a spectrum between a first wave number band of 1340 cm.sup.−1 to 1350 cm.sup.−1, inclusive, and a second wave number band of 1300 cm.sup.−1 to 1340 cm.sup.−1, inclusive, is calculated. It is determined whether or not a specific bromine-based flame retardant is contained in the resin, by using the calculated difference of reflection intensity in the spectrum.
SHORT-WAVE INFRARED SENSOR FOR IDENTIFYING BASED ON WATER CONTENT
An optical system operating in the near or short-wave infrared wavelength range identifies an object based on water absorption. The system comprises a light source with modulated light emitting diodes operating at wavelengths near 1090 and 1440 nanometers, corresponding to lower and higher water absorption. The system further comprises one or more wavelength selective filters and a housing that is further coupled to an electrical circuit and a processor. The detection system comprises photodetectors that are synchronized to the light source, and the detection system receives at least a portion of light reflected from the object. The system is configured to identify the object by comparing the reflected light at the first and second wavelength to generate an output value, and then comparing the output value to a threshold. The optical system may be further coupled to a wearable device or a remote sensing system with a time-of-flight sensor.

METHOD FOR EVALUATING MONOMERS HAVING EFFECT ON COPOLYMER CHARACTERISTICS, AND SYSTEM USING SAME
This invention relates to a method of evaluating monomers having an effect on copolymer characteristics and a system using the same, and particularly to a novel method of evaluating the magnitude of the effect of monomers on copolymer characteristics, which cannot be evaluated using existing methods. The method of evaluating monomers having an effect on copolymer characteristics and the system using the same are innovative because the extent of changes in copolymer characteristics can be predicted at the monomer level by quantitatively evaluating the effect of the monomers on the copolymer characteristics, taking into consideration the kind or linkage type of monomers.
