MODULAR POINT-OF-CARE DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND USES THEREOF

The present invention provides devices and systems for use at the point of care. The methods devices of the invention are directed toward automatic detection of analytes in a bodily fluid. The components of the device are modular to allow for flexibility and robustness of use with the disclosed methods for a variety of medical applications.

Liquid Dispensing Device

Means for determining whether or not a reagent necessary for a chemical reaction is normally discharged is provided for a liquid dispensing device that dispenses the reagent for the reaction. A liquid dispensing device as such means includes a temperature controller that controls a temperature of a reaction position to any appropriate temperature and a temperature monitor part that monitors the temperature of the reaction position, monitors with the temperature monitor part a change in the temperature of the reaction position when the dispensing device discharges a reagent, and when a temperature change amount deviates from a beforehand determined threshold range, determines abnormal dispensation.

AUTOMATIC ANALYZER

A high-throughput automatic analyzer integrates a biochemical analysis section and a blood coagulation analysis section. The analyzer is capable of achieving a reduction in size, system cost, and lifecycle cost. The automatic analyzer includes: a reaction disk; a first reagent dispensing mechanism that dispenses a reagent to reaction cells on the reaction disk; a photometer that irradiates a reaction solution in the reaction cell with light; a reaction cell cleaning mechanism; a reaction vessel supply unit that supplies a disposable reaction vessel for mixing and reacting a sample and a reagent with each other; a second reagent dispensing mechanism that dispenses a reagent to the disposable reaction vessel; a blood coagulation time measuring section that irradiates a reaction solution in the disposable reaction vessel with light to detect transmitted or scattered light; and a sample dispensing mechanism that dispenses a sample to the reaction cell and the disposable reaction vessel.

Blood analysis method, blood analyzer, and non-transitory computer readable medium

A blood analysis method includes: acquiring optical information which changes over time from a mixed liquid of a blood sample and a reagent for coagulation time measurement after mixing the blood sample and the reagent, and acquiring information related to a coagulation time and information related to a number of platelets in the blood sample based on the acquired optical information.

In blood clotting tests, a reagent is mixed with a sample and a blood clotting reaction is initiated. The time from initiation until the reaction is complete is not fixed. As a result, during analysis, whether or not the blood clotting reaction is complete is judged at fixed intervals based on the measured amount of scattered light. Therefore, time is wasted and analysis cannot be conducted efficiently if the blood clotting reaction reaches completion more quickly than predicted. Accordingly, the automatic analysis device and method takes this problem into consideration. When information about a plurality of samples is entered, the device compares the predicted reaction time length of each requested analysis item for the plurality of samples, determines an analysis sequence to carry out the analysis for each item in order from longest to shortest, and carries out the analysis on the basis of the determined analysis sequence.

A detection method with a compensation function includes the following steps. After a sample is added to a first cassette, a first triggering instruction is provided to define a first time point. The start position of the reaction area of the first cassette is detected, and a second time point is defined when a first light detecting signal greater than or equal to a predetermined value is obtained. After a predetermined time, a second light detecting signal is obtained from a color band of the reaction area. The time difference between the first time point and the second time point is calculated and the time difference is designated as a first retention time. A compensation value is obtained in a lookup table according to the first retention time and the second detecting signal and the second detecting signal is compensated by the compensation value.
