Reclining seat

A reclining seat including, but not limited to, a seat bottom. The reclining seat further including, but not limited to, a seat back having an upper segment and a lower segment, the lower segment pivotally coupled with the seat bottom via a first pivotal coupling, and the upper segment pivotally coupled with the lower segment via a second pivotal coupling.

A MECHANICAL SEATING DEVICE WITH AN AUTOMATICALLY ADJUSTED HEADREST

A seating device includes a seat 4, a back frame 3 and a head frame 1 carried by a base 5. The back frame 3 is rotatably suspended in the base 5 at a first pivot point E, and the head frame 1 is hinged to an upper end of the back frame at a third pivot point A.

The seating device further includes a motion control lever 7 rotatably attached to the base 5 in a fourth pivot point D. A motion resisting element resists the motion of the motion control lever 7 in relation to the base 5. A pulling element 2 extend from a fifth pivot point F at a first end of the motion control lever 7 to a sixth pivot point B on the head frame. The back frame is arranged to engage the motion control lever 7. The head frame will automatically and seamlessly find the correct position in relation to the angle of the back frame 3 and the motion of the head frame will change direction from a forward motion to a backward motion when the back frame 3 is moved from an upright position, past a reclined position and to a further reclined sleeping position.

Reversible headrest tilt, lumbar mechanism
10383447 · 2019-08-20 · ·

A reversible adjustable lumbar support and headrest tilt mechanism is provided for installation on a chair. A side bracket is coupled to each side of the back frame, and a back bracket is pivotably coupled to each side bracket. An actuator is pivotably coupled to the back frame that has an extendable and retractable shaft. In a first orientation, with the actuator shaft extending toward the upper end of the back frame, a headrest back insert is couple-able to and between the back brackets, such that extension and retraction of the actuator shaft rotates the headrest back insert. In a second orientation, with the actuator shaft extending toward the lower end of the back frame, a lumbar push bar is couple-able to and between the back brackets, such that extension and retraction of the actuator shaft rotates the lumbar push bar.

The invention provides an article of adjustable furniture (10), preferably an adjustable chair or bed, comprising a floor standing base section (16), adjustable seat (18), backrest (20) and headrest (130) sections and actuator means (100) for moving the backrest and headrest sections. The seat section is movably mounted with respect to the base section. The backrest is movably mounted with respect to the seat section and the headrest is movably mounted with respect to the backrest section. The actuator means includes a single actuator (102) for co-ordinated movement of the adjustable backrest and headrest sections for selectively altering the configuration of the article of furniture. The actuator has a first range of movement for moving the headrest with respect to the backrest, and a second range of movement for moving the backrest with respect to the seat section to provide a recliner function. The invention also provides an article of adjustable furniture comprising a backrest (20) and an adjustable headrest (130) pivotally mounted with respect to the backrest, actuator means (100) for moving the headrest between raised and lowered positions, and guide means arranged between the headrest and the backrest for rotating the headrest with respect to the backrest as it moves between said raised and lowered positions. The guide means includes first (138) and second (140) guides, each associated with one of the backrest and the headrest and having at least one follower (142, 144) associated with the other of the backrest and headrest. The first and second guides are inclined with respect to each other such that a turning moment is generated on the headrest when the headrest is raised or lowered.

HEAD RESTRAINT FOLLOWER

Reclining seat mounted on a foundation through first and second slides. The seat cushion is mounted on the first slide, and the seat back is mounted on the second slide. The slides, the seat cushion and the seat back are arranged to move together as one unit to have the seat recline. A head restraint is mounted at a top side of the seat back to follow and move with the back during movement of the back. The second slide has a non-linear curved shape to rotate the head restraint when the seat back moves. The curved shape rotates the headrest in a backward and downward direction when the seat back moves downward and the seat cushion moves forward, and vice versa. From the different seat positions, the head restraint follows the motion of the occupant as they move to the different seat positions.
