Chair assemblies (e.g., rocker style chairs, fixed position chairs, chairs with pivoting seats, tables and trays, a sub-combination thereof, or a combination thereof) are provided. More particularly, chair assemblies (e.g., rocker style chairs, fixed position chairs, chairs with pivoting seats, tables and trays, a sub-combination thereof, or a combination thereof), modular components for use within the chairs, parts for use within the modular components and related manufacturing and installation methods are provided.

Chair and Components

A chair support shell has an integral back portion, seat portion, and joining portion between the back portion and the seat portion. At least a major portion of the support shell comprises a compliant structure, the compliant structure having a plurality of cells interconnected by a plurality of resilient members. The compliant structure provides compliance in the seat portion, compliance in the back portion, and compliance in the joining portion. The compliant structure enables recline of the back portion relative to the seat portion.

Motion chair

A motion seat is described that includes a chassis, a seat frame, a seat cushion, a backrest, and a resilient hinge. The seat frame is attached to the chassis and the seat cushion and the backrest are each attached to the seat frame. The resilient hinge formed as a unitary body and may be formed from a resilient polymer. The seat cushion and/or the backrest is pivotably attached to the seat frame with the resilient hinge.

IMPROVEMENTS TO SEATS

The invention relates to a seat, such as a chair or stool, which comprises a frame including at least one leg, an undercarriage which is configured to receive the leg, and a seat pan. The seat pan is rotatably mounted to the undercarriage, wherein the seat pan is rotatable about an axis of rotation relative to the undercarriage. The undercarriage also includes a recess and a resilient component in the recess, while the seat pan includes a stop located on a bottom surface of the seat pan. On rotation of the seat pan relative to the undercarriage, such as may occur when the person seated leans forward or back, the resilient component is compressed between the undercarriage and the stop. In one embodiment, an axle passes through the axis of rotation and connects the legs, and potentially backrest if present, to the undercarriage.

CHAIR MECHANISM WITH SELECTIVE AUTO-ROCKING CAPABILITY

A mechanism for a seating unit is provided that allows a reclining mechanism to freely rock on a rocker assembly when a locking actuator is in a first position, and that provides an auto-rocking motion, via a rocking actuator, when the locking actuator is in a second position.

The seat frame is attached to the chassis and the seat cushion and the backrest are each attached to the seat frame. The resilient hinge formed as a unitary body and may be formed from a resilient polymer. The seat cushion and/or the backrest is pivotably attached to the seat frame with the resilient hinge

Tiltable stool and tiltable lounge chair

A tiltable stool includes a seat support, a seat, and a tilt mechanism. The seat is mounted to an upper end of the seat support. The tilt mechanism allows the seat to tilt in a desired direction. The tilt mechanism includes a coiled wave spring, an upper spring retainer and a lower spring retainer, a fastener bolt, and a tilt limiter. The upper spring retainer and the lower spring retainer are disposed opposite each other to sandwich the coiled wave spring therebetween. The fastener bolt pivotably holds the upper spring retainer in position. The tilt limiter is disposed inside the coiled wave spring and is secured to either one of the spring retainers. The tilt limiter includes a conical surface thereon which contacts a contact surface when the seat tilts to a predetermined tilt angle. The upper spring retainer is secured to a lower end of the seat support.

Furniture Member Having Legrest Mechanism

A furniture member may include a base frame and a seat assembly mounted on the base frame. The seat assembly may include a seat frame, a seatback, a seat bottom, and a legrest mechanism. The legrest mechanism may be mounted to the seat frame and attached to a legrest platform. The legrest mechanism may include a drive rod coupled to a pantograph linkage that is movable relative to the seat frame between retracted and extended positions.

Exercise chair

A chair includes a movable part including a seat on which a user sits, a supporting part configured to support the movable part in such a way that the movable part can be moved to the right and to the left; and a restoration unit, which is a biasing member configured to bias the movable part toward the neutral position in the right and the left. The supporting part supports the movable part in such a way that the movable part descends as the movable part is away from the neutral position.
