SENSOR ELEMENT FOR MAGNETIC FIELDS HAVING HIGH FREQUENCY BANDWIDTH

A magnetic field sensor element with a piezo electric substrate having predetermined shear wave velocity V.sub.S, two pairs of interdigital electrodes, arranged on the substrate on the ends of a delay section, having a period length p of at least 10 micrometers, a non-magnetic, electrically non-conductive guide layer arranged on the substrate along the delay section, and a magnetostrictive functional layer arranged on the guide layer, wherein the shear wave velocity in the guide layer is smaller than V.sub.S, wherein a) the substrate is oriented to generate and propagate mechanical shear waves upon applying a temporally periodic, electrical voltage to at least one interdigital electrode pair in the range of frequency V.sub.S/p and, wherein b) the thickness of the guide layer equals at least 10% and at at most 30% of the period length p of the interdigital electrodes.

Wave-based majority gate device

The disclosed technology generally relates to computation devices, and more particularly to majority gate devices configured for computation based on spin waves. In one aspect, a majority gate device comprises cells that are configurable as spin wave generators or spin wave detectors. The majority gate device comprises an odd number of spin wave generators, and at least one spin wave detector. The majority gate device additionally comprises a waveguide adapted for guiding spin waves generated by the spin wave generators. The spin wave generators and the at least one spin wave detector are positioned in an inline configuration along the waveguide such that, in operation, interference of the spin waves generated by the spin wave generators can be detected by the at least one spin wave detector. The interference of the spin waves corresponds to a majority operation of the spin waves generated by the spin wave generators.

The piezoelectric and magnetostrictive layers of the composite material are coated, layered, and bonded using a process known as LTTLP bonding. The resulting magnetoelectric composite fibers are bonded to a polyimide film based copper flexible circuit using a room temperature curing epoxy. The sensor that results is an MEMFC that outperforms conventionally fabricated MEMFCs.
