Tile chair
A seat includes a frame defining an interior space bounded by an outer periphery. A fabric portion extends radially inward from the frame. A plurality of bands is engaged with the fabric portion and a plurality of support members is coupled to one or more bands of the plurality of bands. Each support member includes a connection member and a contact member secured to the connection member. The contact members cooperate to form a support surface spanning at least a portion of the interior space.
Apparatus and system for dynamically correcting posture
An orthopedic device for improving posture while sitting, having a foundation member including a front portion for upper legs and a bowl portion for lower pelvic area. The bowl portion has a central portion and an upwardly inclined lateral portion. The lateral portion and the front portion collectively surround the central portion. A channel attachment is connected with one or more pelvic crest portions. The channel attachment portion connects over a concave recessed portion. The central portion has plural regions of varying flexibility and the lateral portion has plural regions of varying flexibility.
AUTOMATICALLY ADJUSTING COMFORT SYSTEM
An automatically adjusting comfort method includes measuring pressure applied by a user via a pressure-sensor array, determining a pressure profile based on measurements from the pressure-sensor array, comparing the pressure profile to a first limit, determining a cumulative pressure profile over a predetermined duration, comparing the cumulative pressure profile to a second limit, and adjusting one or more of a plurality of adjusting mechanisms configured to alter the pressure profile for increased comfort of the user when the pressure profile exceeds the first limit or the second limit. An automatically adjusting comfort system includes a pressure-sensor array communicatively coupled to a controller for determining a cumulative pressure profile over time, and a plurality of adjusting mechanisms configured to alter the pressure profile to increase a user's comfort, wherein the controller automatically adjusts one or more of the plurality of adjusting mechanisms based on the cumulative pressure profile.
FURNITURE CONSTRUCTION WITH ELASTIC OR SPRING MODULES
Furniture is assembled from elastic modules enabling rapid and convenient assembly and disassembly. The elastic module has a spring, an outer covering layer, and an end member attached to an end face of the outer covering layer. A mattress includes a plurality of individual spring assemblies (145), with each spring assembly including at least one spring (134) and a spring cap (144, 150, 161, 164, 171, 184, 194, 204). Each spring cap has at least one first attachment fitting (168, 178, 174, 186, 196) and at least one second attachment fitting (169, 180, 176, 187) with each first attachment fitting engageable into or onto and removable from a second attachment fitting of an adjoining spring cap. The spring assemblies are attached to each other via the first and second attachment fittings, forming the individual spring assemblies into a spring core. A top pad is positioned on top of the spring core. The mattress can be quickly dis-assembled and stored in a compact space by removing the top pad and separating the spring assemblies from each other.
Articulating Chair
An articulating chair and a method of using same, include at least one actuator, a programmable controller, and movable upper back, lower back and seat bottom sections. In another aspect, an articulating wheelchair and a method of using same, include a seat bottom section, a lower frame to which the seat bottom section is coupled, floor-contacting wheels rotatably coupled to the lower frame, an upper back section, a lower back section, a back frame to which the upper back section and the lower back section are movably coupled, electromagnetic actuators coupled to the back sections, a battery mounted to at least one of the frames, and a programmable controller connected to the actuators and the battery.
Tubular spring assembly
A tubular spring assembly and a series of tubular spring assemblies for use in beds, chairs, or other cushioned surfaces, the tubular spring assembly having a tubular base member, a tubular second member that partially nests and is slidable within the tubular base member, a spring connecting the two tubular members, a ball joint affixed to the exterior of the second member and a pad attached to the ball joint wherein a series of tubular spring assemblies can be arranged within the interior of a bed, chair, or other cushioned surface to provide widely dispersed pressure onto the user.
Multi layered modular support system for lounge and other applications
A lounge having a matrix mat and a plurality of modules capable of being inserted into the matrix mat. The lounge may include a frame configured as a rigid frame, a modular frame, and combinations thereof. The modular frame may further include a tri-cable suspension. The tri-cable suspension may be attached to a dilator retractor mechanism. The modules may be a mushroom cap module, a spider spring module, a web module, a lighting module, an electronics module, and combinations thereof.
Posture seat
Dynamic support systems (10) include a plurality of support members (12), a base material (14), and a support layer (18). Each support member (12) has an upper support surface (20) extending from a first end of a stud (22), and a spherical member (28) extending from a second end of the stud. The base material (14) includes a plurality of receptacles (40) having a socket (42) with a recessed area (52) for positioning a spring (56).
