Forward Scanning Sonar System and Method with Angled Fan Beams
A forward scanning sonar system including at least a sonar transducer and a support structure having the at least a sonar transducer mounted thereto, the at least a sonar transducer being configured such that, while during scanning operation the sonar transducer is moved along a forward moving direction, a fan-shaped beam of the sonar transducer is forming a plane oriented forwardly downwardly such that the fan-shaped beam forms a scan line oriented at a scan angle to the forward moving direction with the scan angle being greater than 0 and smaller than /2 and such that the scan line intersects the forward direction at a point ahead of the sonar transducer.
SONAR DATA COMPRESSION
A survey system including a multibeam echo sounder and a beam selector for selecting beams with the largest amplitudes.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR LOCATING AND VISUALIZING UNDERWATER OBJECTS
Sonar devices for detecting underwater objects are provided whereby a set of angled ultrasound transducers are employed to sense ultrasound signals from a plurality of different spatial regions. The angled ultrasound transducers may include a first pair of side-viewing ultrasound transducers and a second pair of ultrasound transducers configured for interrogating forward and reverse directions. The ultrasound signals from the set of angled ultrasound transducers may be processed to identify the presence of underwater objects in each spatial region, and the resulting identified underwater objects may be displayed, on a per-region basis, on a user interface. The ultrasound signals may additionally or alternatively be processed to generate a topographical model of the bed surface, and to generate a topographical surface image based on the three-dimensional topographical model. The topographical surface image may be displayed as a fly-over animation.
APPARATUS, SYSTEM AND METHOD TO COMPOUND SIGNALS OF RESPECTIVE RECEIVED ULTRASONIC FREQUENCIES TO GENERATE AN OUTPUT ULTRASONIC IMAGE
An apparatus, a method, and computer-implemented media. The apparatus is to receive, simultaneously, electrical signals based on respective reflected frequencies of a reflected ultrasonic waveform reflected from a target object as a result of a transmitted ultrasonic waveform; compound information from the electrical signals to generate compounded electrical signals; and cause generation of an output image on a display based on the compounded electrical signals.
Method and apparatus for producing an acoustic field
The present invention concerns a method and apparatus for the modulation of an acoustic field for providing tactile sensations. A method of creating haptic feedback using ultrasound is provided. The method comprises the steps of generating a plurality of ultrasound waves with a common focal point using a phased array of ultrasound transducers, the common focal point being a haptic feedback point, and modulating the generation of the ultrasound waves using a waveform selected to produce little or no audible sound at the haptic feedback point.
Apparatus and methods for artificial intelligence bathymetry
An apparatus for artificial intelligence (AI) bathymetry is disclosed. The apparatus includes a sonic unit attached to a boat, the sonic unit configured to generate a plurality of metric data as a function of a plurality of ultrasonic pulses and a plurality of return pulses. An image processing module is configured to generate a bathymetric image as a function of the plurality of metric data, identify, as a function of the bathymetric image, an underwater landmark, and register the bathymetric image to a map location as a function of the underwater landmark. A communication module is configured to transmit the registered bathymetric image to at least a computing device. An autonomous navigation module is configured to determine a heading for the boat as a function of a path datum and command boat control to navigate the boat as a function of the heading.
Multimission and multispectral sonar
A survey system including a transmitter, receiver, projector array and hydrophone array transmits and receives sound waves to perform one or more survey missions.
SYNTHETIC APERTURE SONAR (SAS) PROCESSING SYSTEM WITH MULTI-ASPECT IMAGING FOR ACOUSTIC IDENTIFICATION
A synthetic aperture sonar (SAS) processing system for acoustic identification and multi-aspect imaging may perform a first instance of stripmap processing on raw SAS data to generate an initial image and identify a region of interest within the initial image. A second instance of stripmap processing performed on the raw SAS data may generate higher-resolution SAS data of at least the region of interest. The second instance of stripmap processing may include performing beamforming on the higher-resolution SAS data with a full aperture to produce a closest point of approach (CPA) image with an aspect that is orthogonal to an azimuthal path. Multi-aspect processing may include performing beamforming on the higher-resolution SAS data with a series of overlapping sub-apertures to generate the multiple images of the region of interest to present the region of interest with a different aspect and in a different time window.
