A panel has a top edge and a bottom edge wherein the bottom edge is attached to the top side of the base and extends upwardly therefrom. The bottom edge is oriented parallel to a longitudinal axis extending through the first and second lateral edges. The panel lies in a plane orientated perpendicular to a plane of the bottom side of the base. The panel is telescopic and has an adjustable height. A locking member is mechanically coupled to the panel and releasably locks the panel at a selected height. A cushion is attached to and covers the top edge. The base is positioned on a chair to allow a person to place their back against the panel.

ACTUATOR AND BACKREST DEVICE, AND PIECE OF SEATING FURNITURE HAVING ONE SUCH
20200205572 · 2020-07-02 ·

An actuator device is disclosed that permits a first element to be moved linearly, in particular quasi-vertically, relative to a second element. The actuator device may be provided, in particular, for a vertical movement of a backrest, for example in a piece of seating furniture such as an office chair. The actuator device includes a displacement profile within a guide housing and a locking element. The displacement profile includes a latching row and the locking element is configured for engagement with the latching row. In a latching position, the locking element is resiliently rotated into the latching row of the displacement profile, and rotates back and forth when the displacement profile moves in a first direction with respect to the guide housing. In a release position, the locking element is rotated into a retaining position until it is disengaged from the latching row of the displacement profile.

An article of adjustable furniture includes a plurality of articulated support sections, said support sections including at least one adjustable first support section and at least one adjustable second support section, and an actuator mechanism for effecting co-ordinated pivotal movement to angularly adjust the at least one adjustable first support section relative to the at least one adjustable second support section, in which the actuator mechanism is operable to drive a first connecting means to act directly on the first support section, and a second connecting means to act directly on the second support section or a pivotal point connecting the first and second support sections such that the actuator mechanism simultaneously drives both support sections.

Lightweight collapsible stool

The invention relates generally to a lightweight, collapsible, and portable wheeled seat, e.g., a wheeled office chair or stool, for travel, storage, and mobility. The seat includes a seat base member and a seat surface member collapsible between an open, extended position, which is configured to provide a seating surface, and a collapsed, closed position. The seat surface member includes a central seating surface member fixed to the seat base member that has an outer perimeter, and a pair of oppositely disposed and generally u-shaped seating surface members pivotally secured to the seat base member. Each of the generally u-shaped seating surface members include a pair of leg portions that extend from a base portion thereof, or an inward directed perimeter and a portion of each inward directed perimeter has a shape that substantially complementarily corresponds to a shape of a portion of the outer perimeter of the central seating surface member.

This adjustment mechanism/assembly for a backrest/headrest includes a series of parts connected by a threaded rod with a knob on each end. The parts are arranged such that they sandwich two support members so that when the knobs are loosened the unit can easily slide up and down, changing the elevation of the backrest/headrest pad unit with respect to a seat bottom or seat back. Further, when the knobs are loose the upper member and its attached pad can be pivoted fore and aft and slide back and forth. Tightening the two knobs locks the entire unit in place.

FLIP HEADREST DEVICE FOR SOFA

A flip headrest device adapted for a sofa includes a sofa frame and a flip mechanism. The sofa frame includes a sofa frame top and two sofa frame sides that are cooperatively connected. Method for using a chair providing uplifting force to the user
10602846 · 2020-03-31 ·

A method for using a back lifting chair designed for treating and preventing back problems by monitoring posture, weight distribution, and sitting duration of an occupant of a seating device, and reducing pressure on a user's spinal disc by adjusting the user's posture. The method allows for an up-lifting motion on the user's torso, reducing the weight and pressure asserted on the lumbar disc, and preventing any further damage to it. The method allows for an upward and downward movement, hence partially or completely lifting the user from the seat, effectively reducing the pressure on the user's spine and back. The upward motion can be initialized by the user, or alternatively, it can be automatically activated by the weight sensor installed on the seat device which detects the prolonged period of sitting.
