Cable Detection System
A cable detection system for detecting an end of a cable having a plurality of exposed different sections includes an illumination device and a camera. The illumination device emits an illuminating light to the end of the cable. The illumination device simultaneously emits a parallel light and a diffuse light to the end of the cable. The camera captures an image of the end of the cable. The parallel light sharpens a boundary between the different sections of the cable in the image, and the diffuse light clarifies a surface of the different sections in the image.

System and method for automatically detecting unauthorized entry into a pool
A system and method for automatically detecting unauthorized entry into a pool requiring no user involvement, and having a high degree of accuracy. The system comprises a plurality of light beam emitter devices and a plurality of light beam receiver devices positioned about the pool and a processor in communication with the plurality of light beam emitter devices and the plurality of light beam receiver devices. The plurality of light beam emitter devices emit a plurality of light beams and the plurality of light beam receiver devices receive a plurality of emitted light beams to form a grid extending across a the pool. Additionally, the processor monitors the grid, detects unauthorized entry into the pool based on an interruption of the grid, and generates and transmits an alarm message based on whether a level of the interruption of the grid exceeds a predetermined threshold.

Safety device for a machine and method of operating a safety device
The invention is directed to a safety device for a machine that includes a first transceiver unit for emitting a first light beam in a first time slot and for receiving a second light beam. The safety device includes a second transceiver unit arranged for emitting the second light beam in a second time slot that is different from the first one. The safety device also includes an evaluation unit for determining a reflecting object between the first transceiver unit and the second transceiver unit, only if the first light beam is received by the first transceiver unit in the first time slot or the second light beam is received by the second transceiver unit in the second time slot. Additionally, a non-reflecting object may be detected, if by neither of the two transceiver units in both time slots one of the two light beams is received.
Multi-Channel Programmable Detection Sensor
Single board multi-channel programmable detection sensor is disclosed. The sensor has a processor operatively connected to the emitter driver, and a photodetector for controlling one or more operational parameters of the sensor in response to a program. Sensor outputs the TTL signal when desired level of light attenuated or transmitted through the system of fiber optics sensors. The processor sets triggering levels of the signal detected by the sensor in analog fast comparator circuit to threshold based on the signal difference pre-set and actual values.
INTELLIGENT MONITORING OF ENTRY POINTS IN MULTI-CELL WORKSPACES
One or more computational strategies is used to reduce the complexity of handling detected point clusters appearing at a portal of a monitored workcell. If the other side of the portal is a second, adjacent workcell, the monitoring system for a first workcell predicts when a human in that workcell may pass through the portal to a second workcell and alerts the monitoring system for the second workcell. The prediction may be based on absolute proximity of a human to the portal or movement toward it. Other strategies are employed if the workcells overlap, or if the portal leads to an unmonitored space.
LUGGAGE INSPECTION APPARATUS
The application concerns an apparatus for inspecting luggage, including a tubular frame having a plurality of pairs of lateral openings, the tubular frame being suitable for receiving a plurality of containers in line with the pairs of openings, each of the containers having two opposing faces and a plurality of juxtaposed and superimposed locations that are freely accessible through the two opposing faces, each of the locations being suitable for receiving a piece of luggage provided with an information recording medium containing information relating to the piece of luggage. The apparatus further includes a locating device including photoelectric detection grids installed across the lateral openings, respectively, and the position of the location in the container is recorded when the photoelectric detection grid is crossed.
