Optical mixing and shaping system for display backlights and displays incorporating same
A backlight for a display comprises a plurality of independently controllable light sources and inclined surfaces inclining in a radially outward direction from each light source for shaping the distribution of emitted light. The light sources may each comprise a group of differently-colored light emitters. The backlight may include light integrators configured to mix light of the differently-colored light emitters. Inclined surfaces for shaping the distribution of emitted light may be arranged around exits of the light integrators.
NON-IMAGING LENS ASSEMBLY DESIGN FOR EFFICIENT POWER COUPLING FROM MULTIMODE FIBER TO SMALL-AREA PHOTODETECTORS
An optical communication device is provided that includes a first lens having a first surface and a second surface, a second lens having a third surface and a fourth surface, an optical fiber configured to output light including a plurality of ray bundles, and a photodetector located at the fourth surface of the second lens. The first lens is configured to cause the light output from the optical fiber to form an image at an image plane located at the third surface of the second lens. The second lens is configured to cause subsets of the ray bundles received at the third surface of the second lens to intersect or overlap at the photodetector in a smaller cross-sectional area than at the third surface of the second lens.
SYSTEM FOR SIMULATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL ENERGY
Disclosed is a device that utilizes a light-field display to project a virtual continuum of real world perspectives of a natural scene to a plurality of observer viewpoints to simulate a natural environment. An observer perceives different perspectives as he or she moves through the simulated environment just like the observer would as if he or she were in a natural environment.
GALLIUM AND NITROGEN CONTAINING LASER MODULE CONFIGURED FOR PHOSPHOR PUMPING
A method and device for emitting electromagnetic radiation at high power using nonpolar or semipolar gallium containing substrates such as GaN, AlN, InN, InGaN, AlGaN, and AlInGaN, is provided. In various embodiments, the laser device includes plural laser emitters emitting green or blue laser light, integrated a substrate.
DEVICE FOR PROVIDING AESTHETIC LIGHTING
An applicator for beauty products comprises a lighting device for providing lighting when applying beauty products. In various embodiments, the lighting device is a hollow body enclosing a power supply, such as one or more batteries, with the power supply and including a light source. The light source is surrounded by an opaque body so the light source casts an even glow of light. Further, the light source has in such a shape or an orientation allowing the light source to emit beyond an outer perimeter of one or more interchangeable brush heads that are coupled to an outer circumference of the light source. The hollow body also includes a switch coupled to the power supply and to the light source. When activated, the switch completes a circuit providing power from the power supply to the light source, causing the light source to emit light.
OPTICAL FIBER-BASED SENSOR FOR DETERMINING THE CONCENTRATION OF FLUORIDE IN WATER
A fluoride sensor includes an aluminum layer situated on a distal end face of an optical fiber. A light source directs light into the optical fiber at a proximal end and reflected light from the aluminum layer at the distal end face is directed by the fiber to a detector. A rate of change of a detector signal is processed to produce an estimate of a concentration of fluoride.
Light pipe arrays for thermal chamber applications and thermal processes
A processing chamber is described. The processing chamber includes a chamber having an interior volume, a light pipe array coupled to the chamber, the light pipe array comprising a wall member that defines a boundary of the interior volume of the chamber, wherein the light pipe array includes a plurality of non-metallic light pipe structures, and a radiant heat source comprising a plurality of energy sources in optical communication with each of the plurality of light pipe structures.
Wavelength conversion device, light source device, lighting apparatus, and projection image display apparatus
A wavelength conversion device is provided. The wavelength conversion device includes a light-transmissive substrate that includes an incidence surface and an emission surface opposite the incidence surface. The light-transmissive substrate is configured to receive, by the incidence surface, excitation light and emit, from the emission surface, the excitation light. A phosphor layer is configured to emit fluorescent light when excited by the excitation light emitted from the emission surface. The phosphor layer includes a first phosphor layer and a second phosphor layer. The first phosphor layer includes first phosphor particles. The second phosphor layer includes second phosphor particles configured to emit fluorescent light including a peak wavelength longer than a peak wavelength of fluorescent light emitted by the first phosphor particles. The first phosphor layer includes a refractive index different from a refractive index of the second phosphor layer.
OPTICAL MODULE HAVING MULTIPLE LASER DIODE DEVICES AND A SUPPORT MEMBER
A method and device for emitting electromagnetic radiation at high power using nonpolar or semipolar gallium containing substrates such as GaN, AlN, InN, InGaN, AlGaN, and AlInGaN, is provided. In various embodiments, the laser device includes plural laser emitters emitting green or blue laser light, integrated a substrate.
Ceiling mountable light box system
A lighting fixture is provided in which the fixture includes a lighting surface, a lighting fixture frame adjacent an edge of the lighting surface, a sealable compartment within the lighting fixture frame, and a removable cover for sealing the sealable compartment.
