SWITCHABLE LIGHT MODULATOR HAVING REGIONS OF VARYING OPACITY
20220291432 · 2022-09-15 ·

Switchable light modulators, which may be films, including chambers filled with electro-optic media, such as electrophoretic media, wherein some chambers have a different volume of electro-optic media such that when the electro-optic media is switched between an “open” and “closed” state some regions of the light modulator having chambers of greater volume undergo a greater change in optical density than areas having chambers with smaller volumes. Such switchable light modulators are useful for incorporation into windshields, glasses, windows, lenses, or visors where it is desirable that only part of the viewing area is darkened. Because the design only requires two (typically light-transmissive) electrodes, operation is simplified and costs are reduced, as compared to individually-actuable pixel electrodes.

REFLECTIVE DISPLAY USING COLOR CAPSULES AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF
20220317350 · 2022-10-06 ·

This application relates to a reflective display using color capsules and a method of manufacturing thereof. In one aspect, the method includes preparing a substrate in which first, second, and third receiving portions respectively having first, second, and third widths are formed by forming separating portions on a first substrate and forming the color capsules in which first, second, and third color capsules respectively having first, second, and third diameters are formed. The method may also include disposing the color capsule in which the first, second, and third color capsules are respectively inserted into the first, second, and third receiving portions, wherein the first, second, and third diameters respectively correspond to the first, second, and third widths. The color capsules are respectively inserted into receiving portions having the corresponding diameters, so that the reflective display which is convenient to manufacture and which has a multi-color pixel region may be provided.

DISPLAY DEVICE

To provide a display device including a flexible panel that can be handled without seriously damaging a driver circuit or a connecting portion between circuits. The display device includes a bent portion obtained by bending an element substrate. A circuit for driving the display device is provided in the bent portion and a wiring extends from the circuit, whereby the strength of a portion including the circuit for driving the display device is increased and failure of the circuit is reduced. Furthermore, the element substrate is bent in a connecting portion between an external terminal electrode and an external connecting wiring (FPC) so that the element substrate provided with the external terminal electrode fits the external connecting wiring, whereby the strength of the connecting portion is increased.

ABX3 PEROVSKITE PARTICLES AND THEIR APPLICATION IN REVERSE MODE CONTROLLING PHOTO-FLUX

A reverse mode light valve, the manufacture of a light control device and a method of controlling light transmittance by using of the reverse mode light valve, the reverse mode light valve containing ABX.sub.3 perovskite particles (200) suspended in a liquid suspension (300) can control light transmittance in a higher light transmittance when the power is turned off (OFF state) and lower light transmittance when the power is turned on (ON state). In the ABX.sub.3 perovskite particles (200), A is at least one of Cs.sup.+, CH.sub.3NH.sub.3.sup.+, and Rb.sup.+, B is at least one of Pb.sup.2+, Ge.sup.2+, and Sn.sup.2+, and X is at least one of Cl.sup.−, Br.sup.−, and I.sup.−.

DYNAMIC SECURITY DEVICE

A security device that exhibits at least one dynamic response upon change of orientation of the security device with respect to gravity, wherein the security device includes a hollow capsule completely filled with a liquid and one or more microscopic elements. In addition, the dynamic response continues after cessation of the change of orientation with respect to gravity. The dynamic response includes a transition of the one or more microscopic elements from substantial mechanical equilibrium to non-equilibrium upon action of the change of orientation with respect to gravity and back to substantial mechanical equilibrium after cessation of the change of orientation with respect to gravity. During the dynamic response, the one or more microscopic elements undergo at least one of a rotational motion and a translational motion relative to the liquid.

An electrically controlled spectacle includes a spectacle frame and optoelectronic lenses housed in the frame. The lenses include a left lens and a right lens, each of the optoelectrical lenses having a plurality of states, wherein the state of the left lens is independent of the state of the right lens. The electrically controlled spectacle also includes a control unit housed in the frame, the control unit being adapted to control the state of each of the lenses independently.

LED emitter timing alignment for image-based peripheral device tracking in artificial reality systems

An artificial reality system is described that includes a head mounted display (HMD) configured to output artificial reality content and image capture devices configured to capture image data of a peripheral device positioned within a physical environment, where the image data comprises a plurality of successive image frames and the image capture devices capture each image frame during an exposure window of a respective frame period. The artificial reality system further includes a waveform controller configured to program a pulse waveform for a plurality of emitters on a peripheral device, wherein the pulse waveform specifies a pattern by which the plurality of emitters emit light and a pulse emitter synchronizer configured to synchronize the emission of light by the plurality of emitters according to the pulse waveform with the exposure window over the successive image frames from the image capture devices.
