Height-Adjustable Supple Member
The invention relates to a height-adjustable supple member for lying and/or sitting furniture, including one or more adjustable springs and a rotary part. Each adjustable spring is configured to change in height along a central axis under the effect of a radial stress relative to the central axis. The rotary part includes one or more rails each extending over an angular sector about the central axis, in a plane perpendicular to the central axis, from a first end to a second end more distant from the central axis than the first end. Each rail cooperates, in the radial direction relative to the central axis, with a corresponding adjustable spring among the one or more adjustable. The rotary part is able to rotate, about the central axis, so as to exert, through each rail, said radial stress on the corresponding adjustable spring.
SUPPLE MEMBER WITH ADJUSTABLE STIFFNESS FOR LYING AND/OR SITTING FURNITURE
The invention relates to a supple member with adjustable stiffness for lying and/or sitting furniture. This member includes one or more adjustable helical springs and a rotary part. The rotary part includes a hub able to rotate about the central axis and one or more elastically flexible fingers. Each finger extends from a first end secured to the hub of the rotary part, over an arc of circle about the central axis, to a second end, and cooperates with a corresponding end of one or more of the adjustable helical springs.
Flexible Member with Adjustable Stiffness for Lying and/or Sitting Furniture
The invention relates to a flexible member with adjustable stiffness for lying and/or sitting furniture. This member includes one or more inner spring(s) oriented along a central axis, one or more pair(s) of outer helical springs about the central axis, and a rotating part able to rotate, about the central axis, between a blocking position and an unblocking position. Each pair of outer helical springs includes an upper outer helical spring and a lower outer helical spring, connected by a corresponding hinge, which has a pivot axis orthogonal to the central axis. In the blocking position, the rails engage the corresponding hinges of the pairs of the outer helical spring, so as to prevent radial displacement, relative to the central axis, of the corresponding hinges, while the unblocking position allows the radial displacement of each corresponding hinge.
Mattress arrangement, such as a bed, having adjustable firmness
A mattress arrangement, such as a bed arrangement (1), having adjustable firmness is disclosed. The mattress arrangement comprises an upper mattress (3) and a lower mattress (4) being arranged beneath said upper mattress (3). At least one side (41) of the lower mattress (4) is moveable in relation to an opposite side (42) of the lower mattress (4), the lower mattress (4) thereby being expandable into an expanded state, having a lower firmness, and compressible into a contracted state, having a higher firmness. A support layer (6) is arranged between the upper mattress (3) and the lower mattress (4), to partly support the upper mattress (3), and arranged overlying the at least one moveable side (41) of the lower mattress (4). Hereby, at least one compartment is formed beneath the upper mattress (3), wherein the compartment(s) is at least partly empty when the lower mattress (4) is in the contracted state and at least partly filled when the lower mattress (4) is in the expanded state.
Bed
A bed according to an embodiment may include a topper, at least one firmness adjuster provided under the topper, and a bedframe configured to have an adjustable position and to support the firmness adjuster. There may be a plurality of firmness adjusters corresponding to a plurality of areas of the bed, and each firmness adjuster may include a plurality of cushions provided in a cushion case and a drive to adjust the firmness of the plurality of cushions. The drive may change a position of a first spring relative to a second spring in each of the cushions to change a perceived firmness by a user lying on top of the topper and the firmness adjusters. A dryer may be provided under the bedframe to keep the cushions and topper dry.
Mattress arrangement, such as a bed, having zones with adjustable height/firmness
A mattress arrangement, such as a bed arrangement, is disclosed, comprising an upper mattress and optionally an lower mattress. The mattresses are preferably pocket spring mattresses. A support structure is arranged beneath the upper mattress, and comprises at least one flexible elongate element arranged to extend between two holding elements arranged at opposite sides of at least one variable zone in the bed arrangement. A retraction device is further arranged to control the slack of said flexible elongate element(s) by controlling the length of the flexible elongate element(s) being provided between the holding elements. Hereby, the height and/or firmness of the bed arrangement is controlled in the variable zone(s).
Bed with automatically adjustable properties
A bed arrangement including adaptive properties is disclosed. The bed arrangement includes a mattress including at least one zone including independently adjustable firmness and/or height, a drive unit arranged to adjust the firmness and/or height of the at least one zone and at least one sensor. The sensor(s) is adapted to measure a physical parameter which is relatable to a lying position used by a user. Further, a control unit is arranged to determine, based on input from the sensor(s), the present lying position of a user. The lying position is determinable to be one of a set of at least two predefined lying positions. Further, the control unit controls the drive unit to adjust the firmness and/or height of the zone(s) to preset firmness/height value(s) corresponding to the determined lying position. Hereby, an automatic adaption of the bed properties to various lying positions is obtained.
COMPUTER-SHAPED MOTION BED SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A computer-shaped motion bed system includes a mattress having embedded therein an array of disks, a sensor array for sensing body position on the mattress, an array of actuators, and an array of connectors for connecting each of a plurality of the disks embedded in the mattress to each of a plurality of the actuators. The system includes a controller having a processor coupled to a data store and in communication with the array of actuators, and programmed, upon receiving signals from the sensor array, to cause the a subset of the array of actuators to pull on a subset of the array of connectors, thereby pulling on a subset of the array of disks embedded in the mattress, so as to alter contours of a surface of the mattress, whereby the mattress is caused to increase comfort of a user, match contours of the user's body, or better support the user's body.
UPHOLSTERED-FURNITURE ARRANGEMENT WITH UPHOLSTERY-FIRMNESS ADJUSTMENT, AND USE THEREOF
It is of interest to be able to adjust the upholstery firmness of furniture for sitting and lying on as individually as possible, in particular with a view to being able to use the furniture for a long time. In addition, there is a need for a design which allows firmness adjustment to be integrated and which can be realized as flexibly as possible for different furniture or seat variants. The invention provides an upholstered-furniture arrangement (100) which has a basic frame (7) and an upholstered cushion (6) on which someone can sit or lie, which is fixed to the basic frame at least in the edge region thereof and which has a panel (4) beneath it for upholstery-firmness adjustment, the panel being arranged in the basic frame (7) such that the height of the panel can be adjusted by pivoting the panel, wherein the end of the panel (4) located opposite a pivot shaft (14) is arranged freely in the basic frame (7), and a height-adjustment device acts on the panel (4) from beneath by applying an adjustable compressive/prestressing force (F), the height-adjustment device being supported in the downward direction by the basic frame, counter to the compressive/prestressing force. This arrangement has an attractive, direct technical effect and offers a good compromise between cost and benefit.
