Stiffness adjustment device
The invention relates to the field of furnishing. In particular, the invention relates to a stiffness adjustment device movable between an interference position for imposing a restriction on the deformation of a seat, back or bedding spring, and a non-interference position for releasing the spring from the restriction. The stiffness adjustment device comprises a resilient element, e.g. such as a flexible blade and, as it moves between the interference and non-interference positions it passes through an intermediate position in which the resilient element is subjected to resilient bending that is greater than in the interference and non-interference positions.
Improvements in and relating to beds
The present invention relates to beds having a support surface defined by a plurality of support members (104, 204, 240). According to some aspects the support members are sprung (104, 204) and the bed includes a damping system (106, 206), for example a damping arm (124), for damping vibrations of the springs (118, 218). According to some aspects the support members (204, 240) have laterally extending pusher members (236, 238) arranged to engage with adjacent support members (204, 240); the pusher members (236, 238) comprising damping material (254). According to some aspects the support members (104, 204) are received by a guide member (320, 420) made up of two parts (320a, 320b, 420a, 420b) arranged to retain a spring by engaging between the coils of the spring (418). The present invention also relates to bed frames comprising a plurality of movable side elements (568, 768, 1068) mounted for movement in a direction substantially normal to the body support surface. The side elements (568, 768, 1068) are resiliently urged towards an unloaded position. The present invention also relates to methods of manufacturing beds.
Automatic adaptive comfort for bunk mattress
The disclosure relates to a bunk, in particular for a vehicle cabin. The bunk comprises a base plate, an upper layer, a plurality of supporting members vertically compressible and spaced apart from one another substantially over the whole surface of the bunk, a plurality of pressure sensors which are part of the upper layer and in an adaptable area comprising at least one area of the bunk, a moving mechanism configured to move at least some of the supporting members in the adaptable area parallel to the base plate, and a control unit connected to the pressure sensors and the moving mechanism. The control unit is configured to cause the moving mechanism to move the supporting members in the adaptable area as a function of the current pressure data provided by the pressure sensors, to locally change the density of the supporting members to provide a locally variable bunk firmness.
FURNITURE DEVICE WITH ADJUSTABLE FIRMNESS
A furniture device configured to receive the weight of a being, said furniture device comprising a holding arrangement (20, 120) and at least one section (30, 30, 130) comprising a base (2, 102), a movable plate element (4, 104), a moving mechanism (6, 10) and at least one elastic device (12, 112). The plate element (4, 104) is configured to interact with the at least one elastic device and to be moved by the moving mechanism in respect to the base in order to adjust the firmness of the at least one elastic device. The elastic device comprises a pocket (14, 114) made of a flexible sheet material, and an elastic member (18, 118). The holding arrangement comprises a holding member (22, 122), which is fixed in relation to the base (2, 102) or the plate element (4, 104) and a connecting portion (24, 24, 124) which is arranged at the elastic device (12, 112) and which connects the holding member to the elastic member. The elastic member (18, 118) exhibits a first portion (18a, 118a) arranged proximal to the free end of the elastic member, a second portion (18b, 118b) being arranged distal to the free end of the elastic member and an intermediate portion (18c, 118c) arranged between the first and second portions. The holding member (22, 122) is, via the connecting portion (24, 24, 124), connected to the intermediate portion (18c, 118c) of the elastic member, such that, during movement of the plate element (4, 104) relative to the base (2, 102), the elastic member (18, 118) is compressed and relaxed only over the second portion (18b, 118b).
Bed
A bed according to an embodiment may include a topper, at least one firmness adjuster provided under the topper, and a bedframe configured to have an adjustable position and to support the firmness adjuster. There may be a plurality of firmness adjusters corresponding to a plurality of areas of the bed, and each firmness adjuster may include a plurality of cushions provided in a cushion case and a drive to adjust the firmness of the plurality of cushions. The drive may change a position of a first spring relative to a second spring in each of the cushions to change a perceived firmness by a user lying on top of the topper and the firmness adjusters. A dryer may be provided under the bedframe to keep the cushions and topper dry.
MATTRESS ARRANGEMENT, SUCH AS A BED, HAVING ADJUSTABLE FIRMNESS
A mattress arrangement, such as a bed arrangement (1), having adjustable firmness is disclosed. The mattress arrangement comprises an upper mattress (3) and a lower mattress (4) being arranged beneath said upper mattress (3). At least one side (41) of the lower mattress (4) is moveable in relation to an opposite side (42) of the lower mattress (4), the lower mattress (4) thereby being expandable into an expanded state, having a lower firmness, and compressible into a contracted state, having a higher firmness. A support layer (6) is arranged between the upper mattress (3) and the lower mattress (4), to partly support the upper mattress (3), and arranged overlying the at least one moveable side (41) of the lower mattress (4). Hereby, at least one compartment is formed beneath the upper mattress (3), wherein the compartment(s) is at least partly empty when the lower mattress (4) is in the contracted state and at least partly filled when the lower mattress (4) is in the expanded state.
Shaped body made from a foam and springs as well as uses thereof
A shaped body includes at least one spring and at least one foam section. An uppermost section of the foam section is attached to an uppermost section of the at least one spring and a lowest section of the foam section is attached to the lowest section of the at least one spring. The uppermost section is attached by affixation through a top plate to the at least one spring and the lowest section is attached by affixation through a bottom plate to the at least one spring. The at least one spring is arranged adjacent to the at least one foam section. The top plate and the bottom plate are sufficiently mechanically firm to generate parallel behavior of the at least one spring and the at least one foam section.
Upholstered-furniture arrangement with upholstery-firmness adjustment, and use thereof
It is of interest to be able to adjust the upholstery firmness of furniture for sitting and lying on as individually as possible, in particular with a view to being able to use the furniture for a long time. In addition, there is a need for a design which allows firmness adjustment to be integrated and which can be realized as flexibly as possible for different furniture or seat variants. The invention provides an upholstered-furniture arrangement (100) which has a basic frame (7) and an upholstered cushion (6) on which someone can sit or lie, which is fixed to the basic frame at least in the edge region thereof and which has a panel (4) beneath it for upholstery-firmness adjustment, the panel being arranged in the basic frame (7) such that the height of the panel can be adjusted by pivoting the panel, wherein the end of the panel (4) located opposite a pivot shaft (14) is arranged freely in the basic frame (7), and a height-adjustment device acts on the panel (4) from beneath by applying an adjustable compressive/prestressing force (F), the height-adjustment device being supported in the downward direction by the basic frame, counter to the compressive/prestressing force. This arrangement has an attractive, direct technical effect and offers a good compromise between cost and benefit.
