Light field generator devices with series output couplers

Electro-holographic light field generator devices comprising surface acoustic wave (SAW) optical modulators are disclosed that employ multiple output couplers. These output couplers might be distributed along waveguides of the SAW modulators, within output coupling regions. Each of these output couplers can be configured for directing an incident leaky mode light at different output angles. In some cases, it may be desirable to employ the output couplers to function as different sub-pixels, to provide light to different viewing directions. The output couplers may be mirrors, volume gratings, chirped gratings, reflection gratings, two dimensional gratings, and/or transmission gratings. The output couplers may be angled so that the coupling output fans for each optical modulator are offset from the waveguide for that optical modulator.

ILLUMINATION APPARATUS, HOLOGRAM DEVICE, AND VEHICLE CONTROL METHOD

An illumination apparatus that illuminates an illumination zone having a first direction and a second direction crossing the first direction is provided with a light source to emit a coherent light beam, and a diffraction optical device to diffract the coherent light beam incident from the light source. The diffraction optical device diffracts the incident coherent light beam so that a width of the illumination zone in the second direction gradually becomes wider along the first direction of the illumination zone from a nearer side to the diffraction optical device.

A co-located imaging and display pixel includes an image pixel having a photosensitive element and a display pixel co-located with the image pixel. An optical transformation engine is coupled between the image pixel and the display pixel. The optical transformation engine is configured to modulate an amplitude of display light emitted by the display pixel in response to receiving an imaging signal generated by the photosensitive element of the image pixel.

Self-reference holographic imaging system

A system for recording a digital hologram of an object comprises: a coherent source intended to illuminate the object and thus produce a wave diffracted by the object; and a digital sensor intended to record the digital hologram of the object. It furthermore comprises a spatial phase modulating assembly able to produce in the plane of the sensor a plurality of duplicates of the wave diffracted by the object, the duplicates being offset from each other but overlapping partially, these duplicates forming on the sensor a digital hologram of the object, this hologram being what is referred to as a self-reference hologram.
