A holographic projector comprises an image processing engine, a hologram engine, a display engine and a light source. The image processing engine is arranged to receive a source image for projection and generate a plurality of secondary images from a primary image based on the source image. The source image comprises pixels. Each secondary image may comprise fewer pixels than the source image. The plurality of secondary images are generated by sampling the primary image. The hologram engine is arranged to determine, such as calculate, a hologram corresponding to each secondary image to form a plurality of holograms. The display engine is arranged to display each hologram on the display device. The light source is arranged to Illuminate each hologram during display to form a holographic reconstruction corresponding to each secondary image on a replay plane. The primary image is selected from the group comprising: the source image and an intermediate image.
HOLOGRAPHIC DISPLAY AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF
Provided are holographic displays and operating methods of the holographic display. The holographic display includes a backlight portion configured to emit light for displaying an image; a deflector configured to control a direction at which the image is displayed; a lens portion configured to control a location where the image to be displayed is formed to match a location that satisfies a diffraction condition; and a panel portion configured to display a 3D image by combining the image to be displayed with an interference pattern generated with respect to an overlapped hologram.
OPTICALLY TRAPPED ATOM TRANSFER TWEEZER THROUGH HOLOGRAM AND METHOD USING THE SAME
An optically trapped atom transfer tweezer may be provided that includes: an optical modulator which modulates incident light and generates a first hologram; a first lens which images the first hologram on an intermediate image plane and generates a first holographic image having any potential shape; a second lens which re-images the first holographic image on an entrance pupil of a third lens; the third lens which re-images a second hologram generated by the re-imaging of the second lens on a plane where an optically trapped atom array exists; a photographing device which captures optically trapped cold atoms from a second holographic image generated on the plane where an optically trapped atom array exists; and a controller which controls the optical modulator to adjust the second holographic image on the basis of the optically trapped atom image captured by the photographing device. As a result of this, the optically trapped atom array can be easily transferred to any position.
COMPLEX LIGHT MODULATOR, HOLOGRAPHIC DISPLAY DEVICE, AND SEE-THROUGH DISPLAY DEVICE
A complex light modulator including a first polarization plate, a second polarization plate provided, an amplitude modulator provided between the first polarization plate and the second polarization plate, a phase modulator provided between the amplitude modulator and the second polarization plate, and color filters provided between the amplitude modulator and the phase modulator.
Phase imaging apparatus, phase imaging method
A spatial modulator is provided on a plane conjugate to a sample plane on which a sample is to be placed. The spatial modulator spatially modulates illumination light irradiated to the sample 2 or object light that has passed through or that has been reflected by the sample. A dark-field optical system removes the non-scattered light component of the first object light affected by the spatial light modulator so as to generate second object light. An image sensor records a hologram based on the second object light. A calculation processing apparatus combines complex amplitude information based on the modulation pattern supplied to the spatial light modulator and complex amplitude information based on the hologram with respect to the second object light so as to acquire a phase distribution originating from the sample.
Out-of-plane computer-generated multicolor waveguide holography
Various examples of out-of-plane multicolor waveguide holography systems, methods of manufacture, and methods of use are described herein. In some examples, a multicolor waveguide holography system includes a planar waveguide to convey optical radiation between a grating coupler and a metasurface hologram. The grating coupler may be configured to couple out-of-plane optical radiation of three different color incident at three different angles into the planar waveguide. The combined multicolor optical radiation may be conveyed by the waveguide to the metasurface hologram. The metasurface hologram may diffractively decouple the three colors of optical radiation for off-plane propagation to form a multicolor holographic image in free space.
Display device and method
A liquid crystal display device and corresponding method to display a hologram is described. A grey level value for each pixel of a hologram is received and a pixel voltage based on grey level for each pixel of the hologram is determined. The pixels of the display device are driven in accordance with a first representation of the pixel voltages during at least one first drive event. The pixels of the display device are driven in accordance a second representation of the pixel voltages during at least one second drive event after the at least one first drive event. The first representation may be an n-bit representation and the second representation may be a m-bit representation and n<m. The at least one first drive event may be shorter in duration than the at least one second drive event.
Hologram calculation
Systems and method disclosed herein include, among other features, receiving an image for display within a display area of a display system, determining a first image component of the image, calculating a hologram of the image, displaying the hologram on a display device and spatially modulating light in accordance with the displayed hologram, and propagating the spatially modulated light through a pupil expander arranged to provide a plurality of different light propagation paths for the spatially modulated light from the display device to the viewing area, wherein each light propagation path corresponds to a respective continuous region of the image owing to the angular distribution of light from the hologram.
