A recyclable or reusable assembly is described. The assembly includes a lid having a first side disposed opposite a second side that engages an opening of a container and a hole extending through a width of the lid. A corrugated flex pipe configured straw fully extendable for use of the assembly is configured to collapse on itself in a telescoping movement and has a first and a second portion. A second side of the first portion engages the hole on the first side of the lid and a second side of the second portion engages the hole on the second side of the lid. A first sealing plug is affixed to the first side of the first portion of the straw and a second sealing plug is affixed to the first side of the second portion of the straw to seal an inside of the straw.

A protective enclosure for straws used to consume beverages is disclosed. The protective enclosure may be operated by one hand to selectively access or cover an end of a straw through which a beverage may be consumed. The protective enclosure has a clamshell like opening and closing operation, portions of which are interdigitated and pivot during operation. The protective enclosure has a mechanism which selectively extends and retracts the straw during operation of the device. The protective enclosure may have an additional seal or seals to exclude contamination from dirt and/or insects during use.

The present disclosure is directed to a drinking vessel that can include a drinking container and a drinking attachment that is coupled to the container. A straw can be positioned through an opening in the drinking attachment. The straw can include a top end that includes an opening through which a user can withdraw liquid and a bottom end. A drinking valve can be positioned along the bottom end of the straw and can include a tube that is open on the top and closed on the bottom and further includes at least one flow-through opening connecting the inside of the valve to the outside of the straw. A suction tube can include a tube wall that can be slid over the valve to couple the straw to the suction tube.

This document discloses a disposable beverage cup with a non-removable straw. A two-handed scissor-action grasping implement has a pair of clasping paddles connected to the distal ends of a pair of arms, which are pivotally connected to each other through a central pivot. The proximal ends of the arms are pressed together in order to press the clasping paddles together in a scissoring action in order to gather debris between the clasping paddles. A plurality of protrusions connected to the clasping paddles aid in capturing debris between them.
