The back cover is disposed on the main framework and has an expansion window. The expansion box covers and closes the expansion window. The expansion box has therein an expansion chamber, a power chamber, and a communication opening whereby the expansion chamber and the power chamber communicate with each other. The expansion box has a wire connection opening in communication with the power chamber and with the expansion window. The card reading module and battery module are disposed in the expansion chamber and power chamber, respectively. The card reading module is connected to the motherboard by a signal wire via the communication opening and the wire connection opening. The battery module is connected to the motherboard by a power wire via the wire connection opening.
READER/WRITER
According to one embodiment, a reader/writer includes an insertion portion and a support member. An information storage medium held by a person with fingers is inserted into the insertion portion. The support member supports the insertion portion on an installation surface by causing an insertion direction of the information storage medium with respect to the insertion portion to be lowered to the front to intersect with a horizontal plane. In the support member, an intersection angle between the insertion direction and the horizontal plane is set to a predetermined acute angle at which the fingers of the person do not interfere with the installation surface when the information storage medium is inserted into the insertion portion.
Tamper proof payment reader
A payment reader is provided for use in a payment system. The payment reader includes a housing, a non-conductive cover covering the housing and forming an internal compartment, electronic circuitry within the internal compartment and surrounded by the cover, and a mesh of conductive traces provided on the cover and in communication with the electronic circuitry. The cover has an upper wall and interconnected side walls depending downwardly from the upper wall. The lower surface of the upper wall which faces the internal compartment has its entire surface area which is formed of at least one three-dimensional shape which extends outwardly from an x-y plane in the z-direction.
CARD READER
To provide a card reader that encrypts information acquired via an IC contact block. A card reader includes: an IC contact block including a contact spring capable of being in contact with an external connection terminal of an IC chip of a card; a flexible printed board to which a spring end of the contact spring is coupled; an encryption circuit mounted on the flexible printed board and electrically connected to the contact spring to encrypt information acquired from the IC chip via the IC contact block; and a resin sealing member that integrally covers the spring end and the encryption circuit.
CARD READER
A card reader includes a pulling-out prevention member turnable between a closing position where a card moving passage is closed and an open position and preventing pulling-out of a card having been inserted into a card reader at the closing position. The pulling-out prevention member is provided with a main body member and a card abutting member which closes the card moving passage when the pulling-out prevention member is located at the closing position. A rear end of the card abutting member is capable of contacting with a front end of the card having been inserted into the card reader when the pulling-out prevention member is located at the closing position. The main body member of the pulling-out prevention member is formed of resin, and the card abutting member is formed of material having a strength higher than a strength of the resin.
SMART CARD ENROLLMENT DEVICE
A connector that is configured to receive a smart card includes: a first contact configured to receive a power supply voltage and corresponding to a first (power supply) contact area of the smart card, a second contact configured to receive a reference voltage and corresponding to contact a second (reference voltage) contact area of the smart card, and a third contact corresponding to a three-state (input/output) contact area of the smart card. A first light-emitting diode having an anode coupled to the third contact and a cathode coupled to the second contact. A second light-emitting diode has a cathode coupled to the third contact and an anode coupled to the first contact. Turning on/off of the first and second light-emitting diode is controlled by the smart card through the signal at the three-state (input/output) contact area.
Memory card socket and electronic apparatus
An electric apparatus includes a substrate having a ground pattern on a top surface of the substrate; a conductive housing on the ground pattern and having an insertion space; a conductive connector disposed between the ground pattern and the conductive housing and connected to the ground pattern and the conductive housing, wherein the conductive housing is fixed to the substrate via the conductive connector; and a conductive cover coupled to the conductive housing, wherein the conductive cover is configured to move from a first position, at which the conductive cover externally opens the insertion space, to a second position, at which the conductive cover closes the insertion space.
CARD READER WITH ENHANCED TAMPER RESISTANCE
A card reader can include a card insertion slot, a conveyor member, a card-reading head, and a pendulum sensor assembly. The card insertion slot can receive a card from a user. The conveyor member can be configured to move the card along a transport path extending at least partially within the card reader. The card-reading head can be positioned along the transport path, directed toward the transport path. The card-reading head can be configured to read data held on a magnetic strip or held on an embedded chip. The pendulum sensor assembly can include a pendulum and a first sensor. The pendulum can extend into the transport path and can be freely-pivotable about a pivot axis. The first sensor can be configured to detect an angular position of the pendulum about the pivot axis.
SELF-ADDING SMARTCARD READER SYSTEM
A downloaded app controls a device to recognize whether a connected card reader is an unsupported card reader or whether an unsupported card is supplied to the connected card reader. The app automatically generates support for the unsupported card reader or unsupported card by reading the identifying information from the unsupported card reader or unsupported card, modifying an existing driver support file by adding the identifying information to the existing driver support file to create a modified driver support file, and testing the unsupported card reader or unsupported card using the modified driver support file. If the tests are successful, the app then supplies the modified driver support file to other devices separate from the printer.
