A card reader includes a front wall where a card insertion slot opens, a conveyance path extending from the insertion slot toward a back side, a conveyance mechanism configured to convey a card inserted into the insertion slot along the conveyance path, a magnetic head configured to read information from the card conveyed by the conveyance mechanism, and a recess recessed from the front wall toward the back side and configured to expose inside both sides of a rear end of the card conveyed to the back side along the conveyance path.

A card reader includes: an IC contact block including a contact spring capable of being in contact with an external connection terminal of an IC chip of a card; a flexible printed board to which a spring end of the contact spring is coupled; an encryption circuit mounted on the flexible printed board and electrically connected to the contact spring to encrypt information acquired from the IC chip via the IC contact block; and a resin sealing member that integrally covers the spring end and the encryption circuit.

A card reader includes a pulling-out prevention member turnable between a closing position where a card moving passage is closed and an open position and preventing pulling-out of a card having been inserted into a card reader at the closing position. The pulling-out prevention member is provided with a main body member and a card abutting member which closes the card moving passage when the pulling-out prevention member is located at the closing position. A card encoding system comprises a belt to receive an encodable card on a first surface of the belt; a contactless encoding module including an encoding antenna, wherein the encoding antenna is positioned opposite a second surface of the belt; and a belt drive controller configured to rotate a drive roller to move the belt to position the encodable card for encoding using the encoding antenna.

A portable electronic device includes a housing member defining at least a portion of a side surface of the portable electronic device, a subscriber identity module (SIM) tray extending through a hole defined through the housing member and movable between a seated position and an at least partially ejected position, a tray ejector arm configured to at least partially eject the SIM tray from the portable electronic device in response to a user actuation, and a biasing member configured to bias the tray ejector arm against the SIM tray when the SIM tray is in the seated position.

An electronic device an embodiment of the disclosure comprises a housing including an opening in a side thereof; a tray including a tray body, a lever assembly arranged to have a rotation axis fixed to the tray body, and a tray head arranged to be coupled to the lever assembly to be movable with respect to the rotation axis; and a socket arranged in the housing to receive at least a portion of the tray drawn-in into the opening in the housing.

A cleaning device for cleaning a media transport device includes a core layer, a cleaning surface, and an embossment having at least one surface slit across an extended surface of the embossment. The cleaning device may be manufactured by contacting laminating a cleaning surface to at least one side of a core layer and applying heat and/or pressure to form one or more compressible and resilient embossments. The cleaning device may be used to clean a media transport device by inserting a cleaning tool having a core layer, cleaning surface, and an embossment into a media transport device such that an electrical contact comes in contact with the embossment.

A card reader includes a card lock mechanism for preventing pulling-out of a card from an insertion port when the card is jammed in a conveyance passage. The card lock mechanism includes a motor, a lock member driven by the motor to be moved between a contact position and a retreated position, a knob mechanically connected with the motor, and a detection mechanism for detecting the lock member located at the retreated position. A transaction card reading system, which includes: a transaction card reader having a slot for inserting a transaction card; and a protective flap movable between two positions: a closed position wherein the flap closes the insertion slot, and an open position wherein the flap is disposed at least partly outside the insertion slot. The protective flap includes a closure element integrally mounted on a one-piece support element, the closure element being shaped and dimensioned to close the insertion slot in the closed position. The one-piece support element includes at least one elastically deformable portion so as to allow switching from the closed position to the open position and vice versa.
