Method and system for displaying augmented reality reflective of environmental features affecting visibility. Characteristics of a virtual object to be displayed on view of scene is determined. Environmental features affecting visibility along a line-of-sight from scene origin to virtual object are detected. When detected feature is at least one non-obstructing feature, its effect on visibility is determined, and virtual object is displayed superimposed onto view of scene such that appearance of virtual object is consistent with determined effect on visibility. When detected feature includes an amorphous obstructing feature, its range and contour is determined, and obstructed portions of virtual object is determined based on difference between range of virtual object and range of amorphous obstructing feature, and virtual object is displayed superimposed onto view of scene such that determined obstructed portions of virtual object appear obstructed in displayed view.

Clinical trial re-evaluation system

A clinical trial re-evaluation system is operable to perform at least one assessment function on a set of medical scans for each of a first subset of a set of patients of a failed clinical trial to generate automated assessment data for each of the first subset of the set of patients. The first subset of the set of patients corresponds to a subset of human assessment data determined to have failed to meet criteria of the clinical trial. Patient re-evaluation data is generated for each of the first subset of the set of patients by comparing the automated assessment data to the criteria. The patient re-evaluation data for a second subset of the first subset of the set of patients indicates the automated assessment data passes the criteria. Trial re-evaluation data is generated based on the patient re-evaluation data for transmission to a computing device for display.

LOCAL TONE MAPPING FOR SYMBOL READING
20200293731 · 2020-09-17 · ·

Embodiments related to local tone mapping for symbol reading. A local pixel neighborhood metric is determined for at least one raw pixel in a region-of-interest, which identifies on one or more raw pixels near the at least one raw pixel. A local mapping function is determined for the at least one raw pixel that maps the value of the raw pixel to a mapped pixel value with a mapped bit depth that is smaller than the bit depth associated with the raw image. The local mapping function is based on a value of at least one other raw pixel near the at least one raw pixel within the local pixel neighborhood metric, and at least one parameter determined based on the raw image. A mapped image is computed for the region-of-interest by applying the local mapping function to the raw image.

A transmittance estimation unit estimates a transmittance for each of regions from a captured image. The transmittance estimation unit estimates the transmittance for each pixel, using, for example, dark channel processing. A transmittance detection unit detects a transmittance of haze at the time of imaging of the captured image, using the transmittance estimated for each pixel by the transmittance estimation unit and depth information for each pixel. The transmittance detection unit detects the transmittance of the haze on the basis of, for example, a logarithm average value of the transmittances in the whole or a predetermined portion of the captured image, and an average value of depths indicated by the depth information. Alternatively, the transmittance detection unit converts a grayscale of the transmittance estimated for each of the regions from the captured image into a grayscale of the depth indicated by the depth information for each of the regions and sets the transmittance after the grayscale conversion as the transmission of the haze. This enables the transmittance to be detected with high accuracy.
