Systems and methods for semantic labeling of point clouds using images. Some implementations may include obtaining a point cloud that is based on lidar data reflecting one or more objects in a space; obtaining an image that includes a view of at least one of the one or more objects in the space; determining a projection of points from the point cloud onto the image; generating, using the projection, an augmented image that includes one or more channels of data from the point cloud and one or more channels of data from the image; inputting the augmented image to a two dimensional convolutional neural network to obtain a semantic labeled image wherein elements of the semantic labeled image include respective predictions; and mapping, by reversing the projection, predictions of the semantic labeled image to respective points of the point cloud to obtain a semantic labeled point cloud.

Computer apparatus and methods for generating color composite images from multi-echo chemical shift-encoded MRI
11580626 · 2023-02-14 ·

A computer apparatus and methods generate multi-parametric color composite images from multi-echo chemical shift encoded (CSE) MRI. Some embodiments use inherently co-registered images (i.e., image maps) that are combined into a single intuitive composite color image. The color (e.g., brightness, hue, and/or saturation) reflects in part the water and fat content, and other properties, particularly T2* relaxation (related to magnetic susceptibility) of the tissue.

Estimating gemstone weight in mounted settings

A system comprises a faceted structure imaging assembly and a faceted structure image analyzer. The system is configured to determine carat weight of a gemstone while in a mounted setting. In a first mode, the imaging assembly obtains a first image of a top gemstone surface. The image analyzer uses the first image to obtain at least one gemstone dimension, such as table and diameter dimensions. In a second mode, the imaging assembly obtains a second image of the top gemstone surface while a colored light pattern is reflected onto the gemstone. The image analyzer uses the second image to obtain at least one other gemstone dimension, such as crown and pavilion angles. The image analyzer uses the dimensions obtained from the first and second images to determine weight information of the gemstone. The system quickly determines gemstone weight reliably and consistently without skilled gemologists or removal from the setting.

High efficiency dynamic contrast processing

A high efficiency method of processing images to provide perceptual high-contrast output. Pixel intensities are calculated by a weighted combination of a fixed number of static bounding rectangle sizes. This is more performant than incrementally growing the bounding rectangle size and performing expensive analysis on resultant histograms. To mitigate image artifacts and noise, blurring and down-sampling are applied to the image prior to processing.

Agricultural pattern analysis system

A pattern recognition system including an image gathering unit that gathers at least one digital representation of a field, an image analysis unit that pre-processes the at least one digital representation of a field, an annotation unit that provides a visualization of at least one channel for each of the at least one digital representation of the field, where the image analysis unit generates a plurality of image samples from each of the at least one digital representation of the field, and the image analysis unit splits each of the image samples into a plurality of categories.

Using morphological operations to process frame masks in video content

A computer implemented method can decode a frame of video data comprising an array of pixels to obtain decoded luma values and decoded chroma values corresponding to the array of pixels, and extract a frame mask based on the decoded luma values. The frame mask can include an array of mask values respectively corresponding to the array of pixels. A mask value indicates whether a corresponding pixel is in foreground or background of the frame. The method can perform a morphological operation to the frame mask to change one or more mask values to indicate their corresponding pixels are removed from the foreground and added to the background of the frame. The method can also identify foreground pixels after performing the morphological operation to the frame mask, and render a foreground image for display based on the decoded luma values and decoded chroma values of the foreground pixels.

Systems and methods for reconstruction and rendering of viewpoint-adaptive three-dimensional (3D) personas

An exemplary method includes maintaining a receiver-side mesh-vertices list, receiving duplicative-vertex information from a sender, and responsively reducing the receiver-side mesh-vertices list in accordance with the received duplicative-vertex information, and rendering, using the reduced receiver-side mesh-vertices list, viewpoint-adaptive three-dimensional (3D) personas of a subject at least in part by weighting video pixel colors from different video-camera vantage points of video cameras that capture video streams of the subject, the weighting being performed according to a respective geometric relationship of each video-camera vantage point to a user-selected viewpoint.

There is provided with an image processing apparatus. A noise reduction unit generates a noise-reduced image in which noise is reduced from an input image in which a plurality of types of pixels that represent mutually different types of color information are arranged in one plane. An extraction unit generates a high-frequency emphasized image in which a high-frequency component of the input image is emphasized. A demosaicing unit generates a demosaiced image having a plurality of planes that each represent one type of color information by demosaicing processing to the noise-reduced image. A generation unit generates an output image by correcting the demosaiced image by using the high-frequency emphasized image.
