SYSTEM FOR PREPARING BEVERAGES
A dispensing machine includes an injector for supplying water under pressure to a capsule housed in a housing A dispensing device closes the housing, which includes an annular sealing edge for contacting the capsule in the closed configuration. The capsule includes a casing with base and side walls defining a cavity containing a product to be added to water for obtaining a beverage. A flanged edge extends from the side wall. A covering element closes the cavity. A sealing element, associated with the flanged edge creates a fluidic seal with the sealing edge in the closed configuration. The sealing edge includes radial open grooves and radial crests which contact a sealing area of the annular body. The grooves and crests penetrate more deeply into the sealing area during dispensing, to improve the fluidic seal, when the annular body is softened by contact with injected water.

SINGLE-SERVE FORMED SOLUBLE COFFEE PRODUCT
A method for forming a dissolvable thermally reduced, solidified and dehydrated coffee is disclosed. The method may comprise the steps of freezing a liquid coffee concentrate and thermally reducing, solidifying and dehydrating the frozen liquid coffee concentrate until a hard outer crust is formed which may have a hardness greater than or equal to an interior portion of the thermally reduced, solidified and dehydrated coffee.
FORM-RETAINING PAD FOR USE IN A COFFEE MAKER
The invention relates to a pad for use in a coffee-maker, provided with an envelope with an inner space which is filled with a beverage preparation product, wherein the envelope is formed by a first disc-shaped sheet and a second disc-shaped sheet, wherein the interconnected parts of the first sheet and the second sheet form a sealing seam and wherein the first sheet and the second sheet each form a filter which can pass a fluid and which forms a barrier to the beverage preparation product, wherein, in use, with the coffee-maker a fluid such as water is supplied, under pressure, via the first sheet to the pad so that the fluid is pressed through the pad for obtaining the beverage which thereupon leaves the pad, wherein each sheet comprises at least one layer, and wherein at least one of the first sheet and the second sheet is of form-retaining design, made of at least one base compound comprising meltable polymers and preferably fibers and/or filaments of the same, and at least one enforcement compound comprising at least meltable polymers of the group of abaca, banana plant, flax, hemp, lyocell, tencel, kenaf, nettles, ramie, bamboo, bowstring, indian hemp, jute, cotton, coir, sisal, agave and preferably fibers and/or filaments.
Capsules and other containers with optimized recycling attributes and methods for making same
A capsule or container is provided having optimized recycling attributes. The capsule is provided for use in a machine for preparing a consumable product from capsules. The capsule includes a body that defines an interior space with an opening. A cover is disposed over the opening. A filter is disposed in the interior space to define a chamber between the filter and the cover. The body, filter and cover are preferably formed of the same substantially pure polymer material. Ingredients are disposed in the interior space for preparing a desired product. A hinge is provided to tether the cover to the body. The cover is attached with a peelable seal to the body so that cover may be peeled away from the body while remaining tethered at the hinge.
PORTION CAPSULE BASE BODY AND PORTION CAPSULE FOR A BEVERAGE PREPARATION MACHINE AND CORRESPONDING METHODS
A portion capsule base body defines a directed axis and is fillable with an extraction material. The base body has a bottom region, a circumferential side wall adjoining the bottom region and having an outer surface, an a circumferential collar region adjoining the side wall, and through which an opening is defined. The axis is centrally extending through the bottom region and through the opening, and defines an axial direction pointing from the bottom region through the opening. A distance measured perpendicular to the axis is referred to as the axial distance, and the side wall has at least one ramp element by which at least one ramp region is defined in which the axial distance of the outer surface is increasing along the axial direction.
BEVERAGE PREPARATION SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES, INCLUDING PORTION HOLDER WITH ENHANCED SINGLE PORTION
The present invention refers to systems and process associated with beverage preparation based upon the extraction of a single portion (1) of a pre-measured quantity of precursor substance in a brewing apparatus (4), whereby said single portion (1) presents a compostable confinement (2) and can be collected inside of a portion holder (3) that is adapted so that can be retained inside a cavity of said brewing apparatus (4). In particular, the present invention relates addresses the problem of ensuring effective and reliable operation of a single portion (1) in the portion holder (3).
