A system is provided for making a beverage capsule for use in a beverage preparing machine. The system includes a filter station for sealing a filter to an interior space of a body for the beverage capsule to define an ingredients chamber; an ingredients station for depositing a desired volume of desired ingredients into the ingredients chamber; and a cover sealing station for sealing a cover to the body. The cover being sealed to the body to define a hinge zone and a peel zone, wherein the hinge zone has a stronger seal than the peel zone.

A method and apparatus provides a coffee beverage having a reduced terpene content, where a brew chamber has a brew area A is provided and a volume of water is provided to flow through the coffee grounds in the brew chamber and out of the brew chamber to provide a coffee beverage, and where the flow rate of water provided through coffee grounds in the brew chamber is F and the ratio of F/A is about 0.15 cm/s or less.

A system for preparing a brewed beverage from at least one flavorant includes a housing, a receptacle connectable to the housing for holding the at least one flavorant and a reservoir connectable to the housing. The receptacle including a first fluid inlet and a second fluid inlet and a first fluid flow path fluidly connects the reservoir to the first fluid inlet and a second fluid flow path fluidly connects the reservoir to the second fluid inlet.

The invention relates to a portion capsule (1) for preparing a beverage in a beverage preparation machine, wherein: the portion capsule (1) comprises a base element (2), which has a cavity (3) for receiving a beverage raw material, and a capsule cover (4) sealing the cavity (3); the base element (2) comprises a capsule base (5), a peripheral flange (6), and a capsule wall (7) extending between the capsule base (5) and the peripheral flange (6); the capsule cover (4) is attached to the flange (6) along a sealing plane (8); the flange (6) has a peripheral bulge (9) at its outer free end; a sealing element in the form of a sealing bead (10) pointing away from the capsule cover (4) is provided on the flange (6); the sealing plane (8) extends along the flange (6) on the side of the capsule cover (4), between the bulge (9) and the sealing bead (10); and the sealing bead (10) comprises an inner flank (11) on the capsule wall (7) side and an outer flank (12) on the bulge (9) side; characterised in that both the outer flank (12) and the inner flank (11) are oriented at an angle (α, β) of greater than 80 to less than 90 degrees to the sealing plane (8).

A brew head assembly insertable within a brewing apparatus dimensioned to fit within a compartment in a galley of an aircraft may include an adjustable assembly and a brew cup. The adjustable assembly may include a brew head and a support member. The support member may define a first brew head cavity. The brew head may be at least partially inserted into the first brew head cavity. The adjustable assembly may be actuatable between an open position and at least one closed position. The brew cup may define a second brew head cavity. The brew head may be at least partially inserted into the second brew head cavity. A height between the brew head and the brew cup when the adjustable assembly is in the at least one closed position may be responsive to one or more parameters of a brew pod of a plurality of brew pods.

A brewing system for brewing a single flavored beverage of different varieties is disclosed which comprises a holder for receiving a flavored beverage packet (pod) of different sizes, said holder being a technically cantilevered receptacle to hold the flavored beverage packet (pod) beverage in a brewing position, a hinged cover which is secured by a latch, and introduces water in the sealed and enclosed brewing area to produce a flavored beverage drink that flows through the beverage packet and into a receptacle for consumption.

The brewing body may extend along the rotation axis between an upper end and a lower end. The brewing body may define an outlet at the lower end. A brewing material container for a beverage brewer includes a receptacle and a lid. The receptacle is configured to receive and hold beverage brewing material and to be placed in a brewing chamber of the beverage brewer, and includes a base, and a sidewall extending from the base and terminating in an open end. System for preparing a potable beverage, including a capsule, a first beverage preparation device and a second beverage preparation device, each arranged for receiving the capsule. The capsule including a sealing member at the outwardly extending flange for providing a fluid sealing contact with the first enclosing member if the capsule is used in the first beverage preparation device. There is a first sealing interface between the capsule and the first enclosing member for providing a fluid sealing contact if the capsule is positioned in the first enclosing member and the first enclosing member is closed by means of the first closing member, and there is a second sealing interface between the capsule and the second enclosing member for providing a fluid sealing contact if the capsule is positioned in the second enclosing member and the second enclosing member is closed by means of the second closing member, the second sealing interface being different than the first sealing interface.
