Exemplary embodiments are disclosed herein for processing one or more sheets of sheet material in a deposit include various systems and processes. The systems and processes include receiving a sheet in a sheet-accepting device. Further, the systems and processes include detecting, by a sensor, characteristic information about the sheet. The characteristic information indicates whether the sheet is anomalous. The systems and processes also include encoding, by an encoding device, the sheet based on the characteristic information detected by the sensor. The encoding includes encoding the sheet with anomaly information when the characteristic information indicates that the sheet is anomalous. The anomaly information identifies a reason for indicating that the sheet is anomalous. Moreover, the systems and processes include disposing the encoded sheet in a container for further processing when the characteristic information indicates that the sheet is anomalous.

A banknote processing apparatus including: one or more banknote storage boxes that store banknotes; an information management section that manages banknote management information including identification information for banknotes respectively stored in the one or more banknote storage boxes; a search information receiving section that receives input of search information including part of, or all of, identification information of a banknote to be searched for; a banknote search section that searches for a banknote matching the search information based on information being managed by the information management section; and a payout controller that effects control of feeding out and dispensing a detected banknote that has been detected by the banknote search section from the banknote storage boxes.

The image of the value instrument is analyzed to determine its condition. Then, based on the condition of the value instrument, it may be determined that the value instrument is suitable for recycling to fulfill withdrawals. Upon determining that the value instrument is suitable for recycling to fulfill withdrawals, recycling of the value instrument by the automated teller machine is initiated and an indication reflecting the recycling is generated so as to influence when a next servicing of the automated teller machine will occur. An arrangement for processing of value documents at a preparation station, prior to their processing by means of a value document processing apparatus, involves inserting the value documents into a container divided into several storage regions. The value documents of the respective deposit are removed at the preparation station from delivery containers which respectively include a unique deposit identification. A monitoring device automatically captures into which storage region of the value document container the value documents are inserted. A protocol device connected to the monitoring device links the respective deposit identification to the container identification and to the respective storage region identification and transmits this linking information to a control device or to an accounting device, which assigns the value documents present in the respective storage region of the respective value document container to the respective deposit with the aid of the linking information transmitted by the protocol device.

A money handling apparatus comprises a housing; a first cassette attachment unit and a second cassette attachment unit that are provided in the housing; a first transport unit that performs a depositing processing to deposit money from a first cassette, attached to the first cassette attachment unit, into the housing; a second transport unit that performs a dispensing processing to dispense money from the housing as a change fund into a second cassette that is attached to the second cassette attachment unit; and processing circuitry configured to control the first transport unit and the second transport unit.
