Systems and methods for cooperative ramp merge
Systems and methods for cooperative ramp merger are described herein. In one embodiment, a system for assisting with a merge based on a ramp location of a ramp is provided. A swarm module causes a host vehicle to join a swarm created to assist the merging vehicle in the merge maneuver. A position module identifies relative positions of the host vehicle and other members of the swarm. An identification module selects a role for the host vehicle based on the relative positions of the host vehicle and the other members of the plurality of members. A constraint module calculates a merge location area based on the relative positions of the host vehicle and the other members of the plurality of members and the ramp location. A cooperative module determines a cooperative action for the host vehicle based on the role of the host vehicle and the merge location area.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR GENERATING TRAFFIC SIGNAL PHASE INFORMATION SERVICE MESSAGE
Disclosed are an apparatus and method for generating a traffic signal phase information service message. The apparatus includes a precise road map storage unit configured to store a precise road map and a message generation unit configured to generate a MAP message and a Signal Phase and Timing (SPaT) message for a real-time traffic signal phase information service using the precise road map and traffic signal status information.
Roadway Safety System
A safety system to prevent a wrong-way vehicle from entering a roadway by driving onto an exit ramp in the wrong direction. A detection system monitors and detects the wrong-way vehicle as soon as it enters the exit ramp in the wrong direction. Upon detecting a wrong-way vehicle, the roadway safety system remotely sends a signal to turn off the motor of the wrong-way vehicle. The system may also record the vehicle's identification and communicate it to a command center to determine the mobile phone number of the owner/driver and call the driver to alert them that they are driving the wrong-way. Alternatively, a series of one or more penetrable and/or impenetrable barriers could be deployed to stop the wrong-way vehicle. The safety system may further include a communications system to communicate to a central office to initiate other alarms and control traffic on the roadway in response to detecting a wrong-way vehicle.

COLLABORATIVE CONTROLLING METHOD OF VARIABLE SPEED LIMIT AND RAMP METERING FOR EXPRESSWAYS BASED ON CRASH RISK
The invention relates to a variable speed limit (VSL), ramp metering (RM), and a collaborative method of variable speed limit and ramp metering (VSL-RM) on expressways based on crash risk, including the following steps: 1) calculating the crash risk index within each control step, activating the VSL-RM strategy when the crash risk index exceeds the threshold of the crash risk index, and 2) conduct a multiple-ramp metering strategy, determine the ramps to be controlled and the start-up time for RM, and calculate the integrated ramp regulation rate; 3) execute a variable speed limit strategy to obtain the displayed speed limit value for the segment downstream of the cluster and adjust the ramp regulation rate, mainline desired speed and mainline speed of the segment for the next time period accordingly.
Recommended traveling speed provision program, travel support system, vehicle control device, and automatic traveling vehicle
A recommended traveling speed provision program according to one aspect of the present disclosure causes a computer to function as: an acquisition unit configured to acquire, from probe vehicles, pieces of probe information each including information of a time within a predetermined time period and a position of the corresponding probe vehicle at the time; a representative traveling speed calculation unit configured to calculate a representative traveling speed that is a representative value of traveling speeds of the probe vehicles, based on the pieces of probe information acquired by the acquisition unit; a recommended traveling speed calculation unit configured to calculate a recommended traveling speed, based on the representative traveling speed calculated by the representative traveling speed calculation unit; and a provision unit configured to provide the recommended traveling speed calculated by the recommended traveling speed calculation unit to a target vehicle.

TRAFFIC LIGHT ESTIMATION
Among other things, we describe techniques for traffic light estimation using range sensors. A planning circuit of a vehicle traveling on a first drivable region that forms an intersection with a second drivable region receives information sensed by a range sensor of the vehicle. The information represents a movement state of an object through the intersection. A traffic signal at the intersection controls movement of objects through the intersection. The planning circuit determines a state of the traffic signal at the intersection based, in part, on the received information. A control circuit controls an operation of the vehicle based, in part, on the state of the traffic signal at the intersection
