The system also includes a control unit configured to: receive inputs from a plurality of sources wherein the plurality sources comprise the plurality of sensors, the inputs comprise the plurality of sensor measurements; determine a confidence level of each input based on other inputs; prioritize, based on the confidence level associated with each input, the inputs; generate, based on the prioritization of the inputs and the confidence level, a combined input with a combined confidence level; and determine, based on the combined input and the combined confidence level, a mission task to be performed.

Runway landing alert system and method

Methods and apparatus are provided for generating a runway landing alert for an aircraft. The method comprises establishing a Runway Awareness Advisory System (RAAS) envelope for the designated target runway of the aircraft. A track of the aircraft is monitored with reference to a centerline of the target runway. Any deviation by the aircraft from the centerline of the target runway is detected and determined if it is within a margin of error. If the deviation is within the margin of error, an altitude parameter of the RAAS envelope is increased. If the aircraft is determined to still be maneuvering with respect to the centerline of the target runway, the altitude parameter of the RAAS envelope is decreased. Otherwise, an alert is generated if the aircraft is outside of the RAAS envelope.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PRESENTING A QUALITATIVE RISK ASSESSMENT FOR AN AIRCRAFT TO PERFORM A FLIGHT PROCEDURE

Systems and methods for presenting a qualitative risk assessment for an aircraft to perform a flight procedure. Methods include determining: a pilot support value that is representative of a human-machine interface (HMI) onboard the aircraft; a crew factors value representative of a number of pilots and respective experience; an equipment state value of the aircraft, representing available and functioning avionic systems; a type of procedure for the flight procedure; a remaining trip length; an airport facilities state value; an Airport facilities state value; a physical environment value; and, an environmental state value. The method calculates the qualitative risk assessment, as a function of the determined values/factors and presents the qualitative risk assessment in a predefined area on an avionic display in the aircraft.

Positional synchronization of taxiing aircraft with ground support systems

Apparatus and associated methods relate to synchronization of a ground support vehicle with a taxiing aircraft, so as to provide ground support services during taxi operation. After landing, a taxiing aircraft obtains a parking destination from a ground traffic controller. A first navigational route from a first location of the taxiing aircraft to the parking destination is determined. The taxiing aircraft transmits a signal indicative of the first navigational route to the ground support vehicle. A second navigational route of the ground support vehicle is determined so as to intercept the taxiing aircraft. The ground support vehicle navigates according to the determined second navigational route, and couples to the taxiing aircraft at a coupling location common to both the first and the second navigational routes. The ground support vehicle provides ground support service during continued navigation according to a coupled portion of the first navigational route.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR IDENTIFYING CONTEXT FOR COCKPIT ALERTS

Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer readable media for identifying a cockpit alert context during an aircraft mission are provided. The system includes a controller configured to: store message content in a clearance look-up table for one or more clearance messages received from air traffic control (ATC) during the aircraft mission that contain cockpit data about which an avionic system in an aircraft may later sense and generate a cockpit system alert for display on a cockpit display device; monitor a plurality of avionic systems in the aircraft for a cockpit system alert; retrieve an ATC clearance message from the clearance look-up table that corresponds to a detected cockpit system alert when a cockpit system alert is detected; and signal an aircraft display device to display the ATC clearance message in a visually distinguishable manner that indicates that the displayed ATC clearance message relates to a detected cockpit system alert.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS TO CORROBORATE AN EXTERNALLY RECOMMENDED FLIGHT PLAN CHANGE WITH FLIGHT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Systems and methods for coordinating with a flight management system (FMS) on-board an aircraft to determine whether a flight plan (FP) change generated by an external device is valid. The method includes generating the FP change, which includes a deviation to the intended FP and a savings parameter associated with a parameter of the intended FP, responsive to weather data and aircraft state data; generating a lateral display showing the intended FP and an alphanumeric window with the FP change; transmitting the FP change to the FMS; receiving, from the FMS, a travel path and a calculated parameter for the travel path, generated by the FMS responsive to the FP change; determining whether the travel path realizes the savings parameter by comparing the calculated parameter to the savings parameter; and, displaying either a selectable graphical user interface (GUI) object to implement the FP change, or a warning based thereon.

COMPARATIVE VERTICAL PROFILE DISPLAYS

Methods and systems are provided for assisting operation of an aircraft when diverting from a flight plan using a comparative vertical profile display. A vertical profile display includes a first graphical representation of a first vertical profile corresponding to a first lateral route defined by a flight plan for the aircraft and a second graphical representation of a second vertical profile corresponding to a modified lateral route different from the first lateral route displayed concurrently on the vertical profile display. The first vertical profile corresponding to the first lateral route is depicted on the vertical profile display in a first plane and the second vertical profile corresponding to the modified lateral route is depicted on the vertical profile display in a second plane different from the first plane.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ADDING RELEVANT DATA TO ATC TRANSCRIPTION MESSAGES

Systems and methods for converting voice to text messages in an aircraft. The systems and methods transcribe voice messages between a member of the flight crew and Air Traffic Control (ATC) to provide ATC text messages, transcribe a voice-automatic terminal information service report (voice-ATIS) to provide an ATIS text report, determine flight context data based at least on an analysis of the ATC text messages, determine relevant ATIS data from the ATIS text report using the flight context data, and render a visual User Interface (UI) including at least some of the ATC text messages and at least some of the relevant ATIS data on the same ATC transcription page.

CONTEXTUAL EDITABLE SPEECH RECOGNITION METHODS AND SYSTEMS

Methods and systems are provided for assisting operation of a vehicle using speech recognition. One method involves recognizing an audio input as an input voice command including a commanded value for an operational subject, automatically identifying an expected value for the operational subject that is different from the commanded value, providing a graphical representation of the input voice command on a graphical user interface (GUI) display and providing a selectable GUI element associated with the expected value for the operational subject on the GUI display. After selection of the selectable GUI element, a destination system associated with the vehicle is commanded to execute a command corresponding to the input voice command using the expected value for the operational subject.

Enhanced flight navigation determination
11551560 · 2023-01-10 · ·

Examples for flight navigation determination are presented herein. An example may involve obtaining a target destination for an aircraft and determining an initial flight path between a current location and the target destination. The flight path may include a series of waypoints for guiding navigation. The example may further involve obtaining terrain information that represents elevations of obstacles along the initial flight path and modifying the initial flight path to generate a revised flight path using the terrain information. The revised flight path may include modifications to the series of waypoints of the initial flight path such that navigation of the revised flight path avoids obstacles positioned along the initial flight path. The obstacles may have an elevation that exceeds an adjustable threshold elevation that depends on the initial flight path. The example may further involve providing the revised flight path to a navigation system of the aircraft.
