A system for rendering local aircraft traffic by defining boundaries of risk receives current aircraft locations for a plurality of aircraft, including altitudes, and determines multiple boundaries of risk for each aircraft. The multiple boundaries of risk are then consolidated according to risk level where such boundaries of multiple aircraft overlap or nearly overlap. Areas of risk are outlined according to common risk levels of multiple aircraft and the original diamond icons are unrendered. Ranges to the nearest aircraft in each direction are identified, and indicators of such direction and range to the nearest aircraft are rendered around the aircraft.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR AUTONOMOUS VISION-GUIDED OBJECT COLLECTION FROM WATER SURFACES WITH A CUSTOMIZED MULTIROTOR
Various embodiments of a vision-guided unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) system to identify and collect foreign objects from the surface of a body of water are disclosed herein. A vision system and methodology has been developed to reduce reflections and glare from a water surface to better identify an object for removal. A linearized polarization filter and a specularity-removal algorithm is used to eliminate excessive reflection and glare. A contour-based detection algorithm is implemented for detecting the targeted objects on water surface. Further, the system includes a boundary layer sliding mode control (BLSMC) methodology to reduce and minimize position and velocity errors between the UAV and object in the presence of modeling and parameter uncertainties due to variation in a moving water surface.
A MECHANISM FOR UNMANNED VEHICLE AUTHORIZATION FOR OPERATION OVER CELLULAR NETWORKS
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless network may receive a message from a wireless device that is coupled with an aerial vehicle. The message may include a network identifier, an aerial identifier, and operational information for the aerial vehicle. The wireless network may send a message to an aerial function management system requesting that the aerial function management system authenticate an identity of the aerial vehicle. The wireless network may also request that the aerial function management system approve a flight path for the aerial vehicle. The wireless network may establish a data session with the wireless device based on an authentication of the aerial vehicle and an approval of the flight path.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ALERTING WHEN AN INTRUDER TREND VECTOR IS PREDICTED TO INTERCEPT WITH AN AIRCRAFT TAXI PATH
A system and method for alerting when a trend vector associated with a traffic aircraft is predicted to intercept a travel route of an ownship aircraft. A control module receives real-time aircraft state data, flight plan data, and traffic data associated with the traffic aircraft. The control module processes these data and constructs the travel route of the ownship aircraft from the current location to the intended destination The control module generates the trend vector associated with the traffic aircraft, predicts a location of an intersection of the trend vector and the travel route, determines an amount of time it will take for the ownship aircraft to reach the location of the intersection, and generates display commands that cause the display device to generate an alert that visually distinguishes the location on the image based at least in part on the amount of time.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR AUTHENTICATING AN AUTOMATIC DEPENDENT SURVEILLANCE-BROADCAST (ADS-B) SIGNAL
A method includes receiving, by a computing system, a first authenticated signal that (i) identifies a first position of a first aircraft relative to a host aircraft on which the computing system is located and (ii) includes a first identifier of the first aircraft, receiving, at a subsequent time, a second signal that is an ADS-B signal that identifies a second position, a velocity, and an aircraft type, where the second signal includes a second identifier, based on matching the first identifier and the second identifier such that the second signal corresponds to the first aircraft, using the first position and the aircraft type to confirm that it is possible that the first aircraft is located at the second position moving at the velocity at the subsequent time, and based on a confirmation that it is possible, providing an indication that the second signal is authentic.
TIME BASED OVERLAY FOR POSITIONAL MAP DISPLAYS
A system and method for displaying dynamic time-based ranging over a moving map determines position, heading, and airspeed information of an ownship. Based on the positioning information of the ownship, the moving map projects the ownship forward in time and superimposes on the moving map (which may already include distance-based ranging information) time-based ranging information indicating a projected range of positions of the ownship at future or subsequent times relative to the current time. The displayed time-based ranging indicators may be arcuate in shape but adjusted to account for dynamic factors such as headwinds or tailwinds that may affect the time required for the ownship to reach a target at a given distance.
UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLE RESPONSE TO OBJECT DETECTION
Methods, apparatuses, system, devices, and computer program products for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) response to object detection are disclosed. In a particular embodiment, a detection response controller receives data generated by one or more sensors of a UAV. Based on the generated data, the detection response controller determines a presence and an identification of an object in a proximity of the UAV. Based on the presence and the identification of the object, the detection response controller determines one or more actions for the UAV to perform.

The methods and systems receive at least one of a minimum sector altitude value, a minimum safe altitude value and a terrain clearance floor value based on a flight plan of the aircraft or a location of the aircraft. A movement trajectory of the aircraft is predicted. The aircraft predicted movement trajectory is evaluated with respect to the at least one of the minimum sector altitude value, the minimum safe altitude value and the terrain clearance floor value. An alert is output when the evaluation predicts convergence of the aircraft predicted movement trajectory and the at least one of the minimum sector altitude value, the minimum safe altitude value and the terrain clearance floor value.
