An electrically powered crepe maker having a generally cylindrical base unit with an open top portion and a closed bottom portion. A heater element is disposed adjacent the top portion. A bushing is centered within the base unit connected at one end to the bottom portion of the base unit. The bushing has a second end extending to below a plane extending across the open top portion. A generally cylindrical heater plate having a top surface and a bottom surface includes a shaft extending from and centered on the bottom surface. At least one handle is connected to an outer edge of the heater plate. The shaft engages with the bushing so that the heater plate is rotatable on the base unit by using the at least one handle for stopping and starting the rotation of the heater plate.

An isothermal cooking plate assembly is formed from a first plate of high thermal conductivity material having a back surface and an oppositely disposed top cooking surface. One or more heater circuit assemblies are disposed on the first plate back surface for forming a composite having a back surface. A controller is in electrical connection with the heater circuit assemblies for controlling temperature of the first plate of high thermal conductivity material. The first plate can be Aluminum Type 1100 or Aluminum Type 6061. The first plate can be a laminate formed from a clad bottom metal layer and clad top cooking surface metal layer, where the clad layers formed from the same material and having about the same thickness. The clad material can be austenitic stainless steel. A second plate of low thermal conductivity material can be attached to the composite back surface of first plate.

A heating device cooperates with and is removable from an appliance. The appliance has electrical circuitry communicating with a pair of receivers. The heating device has a heating element in thermal communication with a cooking portion, and a pair of electrical posts and a pair of actuators protruding there-from. As the appliance receives the heating device, the actuators move covers of the receivers to allow the electrical sockets of the receivers to receive the posts to enable electrical communication between the circuitry and the heating element.

A cooking plate includes a metal plate for cooking; a heating element, which is in contact with the metal plate and is configured to heat the metal plate; and a temperature sensing element which is integrated with the metal plate and which is configured to sense a temperature of the metal plate and outputs a sensing signal for control heating of the heating element.

A grill machine includes a grill mechanism, a temperature control device and a mode switching device. The grill mechanism includes a lower grill unit, and an upper grill unit that is pivotally connected to the lower grill unit and that is pivotable between an open position and a closed position. The temperature control device is switchable between a first heating mode and a second heating mode. The mode switching device includes an actuating unit that is mounted to the lower grill unit . When the upper grill unit is pivoted to the open position, the upper grill unit downwardly presses the actuating unit to switch the temperature control device from the first heating mode to the second heating mode.
