Apparatus and method for operating a personal grooming appliance or household cleaning appliance
A system and method for operating a personal grooming/household appliance, including: providing a personal grooming/household appliance including at least one physical sensor taken from a group consisting of: an orientation sensor, an acceleration sensor, an inertial sensor, a global positioning sensor, a pressure sensor, and a load sensor, audio sensor, humidity sensor, and a temperature sensor; providing a camera associated with the personal grooming/household appliance; classifying data received from the physical sensor and from the camera using at least one trained machine learning classifier to generate an augmented classification; and providing user feedback information based upon the augmented classification or modifying operation of the grooming/household appliance based upon the augmented classification.
System and method for assessing toothbrush effectiveness
In one embodiment, the invention can be a system for determining toothbrush effectiveness, the system comprising a data capture subsystem comprising at least one sensor and configured to generate brushing data during a participant brushing session directed entirely by the participant, and at least one processor configured to receive the brushing data from the data capture subsystem. A brushing simulation subsystem includes artificial teeth; and a robotic arm configured to: hold a toothbrush; and receive from the at least one processor instructions for a motion to be carried out by the robotic arm, the motion of the robotic arm causing the toothbrush to carry out an automated brushing session upon the artificial teeth, the motion of the robotic arm being based on the brushing data captured during the participant brushing session.
Oral Care System and Method
An oral care system including a toothbrush having a sensor that generates brushing data during a brushing session and a programmable processor. The programmable processor may be configured to receive the brushing data from the sensor, receive oral characteristic data indicative of an oral characteristic of the user, and determine at least one of a suggested brushing routine and a brushing evaluation for a brushing session based at least in part on the oral characteristic data and the brushing data. The oral characteristic may be present in or adjacent to a first portion of the dentiture. The brushing evaluation or brushing routine may be based on or includes at least one of: an altered target brushing time for the first portion of the dentiture; and a modified brushing motion expectation for the first portion of the dentiture.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROVIDING TOOTH-BRUSHING GUIDE INFORMATION USING AUGMENTED REALITY
A method of providing tooth-brushing guide information according to an embodiment of the present invention includes an operation in which a user terminal analyzes a captured image of a user, recognizes the face of the user, and identifies landmarks of the face; an operation in which the user terminal generates a personalized dental model of the user using the landmarks, an operation in which the user terminal provides a virtual dental image by augmented reality using the dental model; and an operation in which the user terminal provides tooth-brushing guide information using the dental model.
PROVIDING GUIDANCE TO DEVICE USERS
The invention discloses a computer-implemented guidance control method (400). The method includes receiving (402) data relating to the use of a device by a user; determining (404) a usage quality measure for the user based on the received data; providing (406) first guidance data relating to device usage for presentation to the user of the device; halting (408) presentation of first guidance data to the user if the usage quality measure is equal to or greater than a first quality threshold (104; FIG. 2); and providing (410) second guidance data for presentation to the user of the device if the usage quality measure is below a second quality threshold (206; FIG. 2).
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING ADAPTIVE PHYSICAL FEEDBACK TO A USER OF A HAND-HELD DEVICE
The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for providing adaptive physical feedback to a user of an oral care device. Methods for providing adaptive physical indicators to a user of a hand-held device comprise: determining, by a controller and one or more sensors of the hand-held device, a current orientation or position of the hand-held device; determining, by a controller of the hand-held device, a deviation from a target orientation for the hand-held device or a proximity of the hand-held device to target locations; determining, by a controller of the hand-held device, a desired correction of orientation or position; and providing, using a sensory feedback module of the hand-held device, a physical indicator to a user.
DENTAL CARE SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A system and method according to which dental care is provided to a young child or infant using a baby dental chair, a floss dispenser, and/or a dental care apparatus. The baby dental chair is specifically designed for the needs of a young child or an infant during a dental examination. The baby dental chair includes a tower base, a seat, and a plurality of wheels. At least one wheel of the plurality of wheels has two configurations: a wheel locked configuration to prevent the baby dental chair from moving and a wheel released configuration to enable the baby dental chair to move. The baby dental chair provides a safe and secure place to examine the teeth of young children or infants during a dental examination.
