Gravity fed smoker

A gravity fed smoker includes a smoking enclosure and an external stack. The stack is double walled with an inner wall, and an outer wall. A vented cooling space exists between the inner wall and the outer wall. An inner chamber of the external stack includes a fire box with a fire grate and a feed hopper positioned above the fire box. A smoke tunnel with a series of openings for releasing smoke into the smoking enclosure extends along the bottom of the food smoking enclosure and is connected to the external fire box at one end. Fuel, including charcoal, lump coal, or wood pellets, is loaded into the feed hopper. As the fuel burns on the fire grate and turns to ashes, the fuel is fed from the hopper onto the fire grate by gravity. A fan and dampers controls air flow through the fire grate and into the smoke tunnel.

An ignition device for a biomass particle fuel barbecue grill and a heater, the device comprising an electrode rod (2), an igniter (3) and a wire (5), wherein the electrode rod (2) is arranged at the bottom part of a biomass particle fuel combustion area (1) in a biomass particle barbecue grill body. Specifically, a hole site is arranged at the bottom part of the biomass particle fuel combustion area (1) for fixing and installing the electrode rod, (2) and making contact with biomass particles in the biomass particle fuel combustion area (1); the igniter (3) is fixedly arranged at a suitable position on the outer surface of the biomass particle barbecue grill body; and the igniter (3) is connected to the electrode rod (2) by means of the wire (5). According to the ignition device, an electrode rod (2) is provided in a biomass particle fuel combustion area (1), and a voltage-generating igniter (3) and a high-temperature resistant wire (5) for transmitting high-frequency voltage are installed to allow the electrode rod (2) to generate arc sparks by means of a manual operation, so as to ignite the biomass particle fuel. Therefore, the biomass particle fuel barbecue grill may be used in an environment without a power supply, is more portable and may be used outdoors.

A heating apparatus can include a fire cage defining a cage space containing heated fuel. The heating apparatus can also include a container configured to be supported by the fire cage at a container position, wherein the container is above at least a portion of the cage space. The container can be designed to hold burning fuel above the heated fuel. Also, a heating apparatus can be arranged to form a food grill, and the heating apparatus can be rearranged to form a fire cage configuration. A thermal store can be placed in a heat collecting position on a side of the fire cage in a first location to heat the thermal store. The thermal store can be moved away from the fire cage and can be positioned in a second location away from the fire cage to emit thermal energy to heat air around the second location.
