METHOD AND APPRATUS FOR AVOIDANCE OF DAMAGE TO CONCEALED MECHANICAL SYSTEMS SUCH AS PLUMBING AND THE LIKE
A method and apparatus for avoidance of damage to concealed mechanical elements during construction or repair of a structure. In one embodiment, a tag is provided for installation on a plumbing or similar element prior to such element being concealed by further construction. The tag is adapted to engage a concealed element in such a way that an indicator portion of the tab remains visible after further concealing structure is installed. The visible tab's location identifies the location of concealed elements and is preferably provided with indicia identifying such purpose. In a further embodiment of the invention, adhesive indicator tape is used in conjunction with an indicator tab. The indicator tape is adapted to be applied over concealing structure to generally identify the location and extent of concealed elements that may be susceptible to puncture or damage during subsequent construction or repair phases of a project.
Patterned Glass Layers in Electronic Devices
An electronic device may include electrical components and other components mounted within an interior of a housing. The device may have a display on a front face of the device and may have a glass layer that forms part of the housing on a rear face of the device. The glass layer may be provided with regions having different appearances. The regions may be textured, may have coatings such as thin-film interference filter coatings formed from stacks of dielectric material having alternating indices of refraction, may have metal coating layers, and/or may have ink coating layers. Textured surfaces may be formed on thin glass layers and polymer films that are coupled to the glass layer. A glass layer may be formed from a pair of coupled glass layers. The coupled layers may have one or more recesses or other structures to visually distinguish different regions of the glass layer.
Method for digitally printing color selection cards by matching the base inks to the base paints, dyes, or plastics
A system and method are described for the production of color selection swatch cards for point of purchase displays of custom blended paints, textiles or plastics using a digital inkjet printer and custom blended inkjet inks based on a set of base inks that can be blended using commercial match prediction software. The base inks are matched spectrally to the base paints, dyes or plastics.
COUNTERFEIT DETECTION OF AN OPTICALLY ACTIVE ARTICLE USING SECURITY ELEMENTS
In some examples, an optically active article includes a retroreflective substrate; and at least one security element disposed at the retroreflective substrate; an article message disposed at the retroreflective substrate, and wherein the at least one security element comprises validation information that is detectable outside a visible light spectrum, and wherein a combination of the article message and the validation information of the at least one security element indicates whether the optically active article is counterfeit.
Apparatus for preventing counterfeiting and alteration
An apparatus for preventing counterfeiting and alteration according to the present invention includes a magnetic changeable substance carrier part containing a magnetic changeable substance to vary reflected or transmitted light rays as an applied magnetic field is varied; a magnetic field generation part for generating a magnetic field applied to the magnetic changeable substance; and a moveable part for varying at least one of the intensity, direction and pattern of the magnetic field applied to the magnetic changeable substance according to an externally applied stimulus so as to change the appearance of the magnetic changeable substance.
FILM STRUCTURE WITH PROTECTION AGAINST MANIPULATION
A film structure with protection against manipulation includes a top film, a laser-inscribable layer which is arranged on the bottom side of the top film, and also a bottom film and a connecting layer for connecting the bottom film to the top film and the laser-inscribable layer. The connecting layer is arranged between the laser-inscribable layer and the bottom film. The film structure has an inscribed region and an uninscribed region. The top film is fused with the bottom film in the inscribed region of the film structure. As a result, it is virtually impossible to separate the top film with the inscribed layer from the bottom film without destruction in the event of a manipulation attempt.

ATTENTION TAG FOR RETAIL ARTICLE AND RETAIL ARTICLE HAVING SAME ATTACHED THERETO
An attention tag for a retail article that includes a label having an adhesive region bonded to a retail article and a protruding region that protrudes from the retail article when the label is attached thereto. Moreover, an RFID tag is disposed on the label and includes an RFIC element and an antenna pattern including first and second antenna portions that are respectively connected to first and second ends of the RFIC element. Moreover, the first antenna portion is disposed in the protruding region of the label while the second antenna portion of the RFID tag is disposed in the adhesive region of the label at a position facing a portion of the retail article.
FUNCTIONAL ELEMENT, A METHOD FOR PRODUCING A FUNCTIONAL ELEMENT, AND A PRODUCT
A functional element 2 including at least one first relief structure 13 in at least one first area 21 and at least one metal layer 12 arranged in at least one subarea of the at least one first relief structure 13 and optionally a preferably polymeric dielectric layer on the side of the metal layer 12 which faces the observer, wherein the at least one first relief structure 13 has a periodic variation of elevations and depressions in the x- and y-direction, wherein the elevations succeed each other with a grating period ? which is smaller than a wavelength of the light visible to the human eye, wherein the minima of the depressions define a base surface and wherein the at least one first relief structure 13 has a relief depth t. Further, a method for producing or modifying a surface and a product 1 having such a functional element 2.
Three-dimensional label having moving patterns using fine patterns and microlens
A 3-D label is disclosed including moving patterns using fine patterns and microlenses, including a lens layer in which a pattern display unit having microlenses that are convex in a semicircumferential form arranged at specific intervals and to represent patterns formed in a pattern layer regardless of a visual field focal length and a secret unit placed on one side of the pattern display unit and displaying intended patterns formed in the pattern layer when a predetermined visual field focal length is reached are integrated and formed; and the pattern layer disposed under the lens layer and having patterns formed thereon so that the distance between the central point of each of the microlenses and the central point of an adjacent microlens is matched with the distance between the central point of each of pattern cells and the central point of an adjacent pattern cell in the state.
