An apparatus and method for encapsulating a light source within a water-tight, robust encapsulating bulk for use, among other things, as a walk paver. The apparatus and method provides a strong, durable, waterproof illuminated paver that includes an array of individually addressable light sources, having the aesthetic appearance of a conventional stone material. A light guide is provided having a light receiving end and a light transmissive end. A light source is provided having a selective on state and a selective off state. The light source is optically coupled to the light receiving end of the light guide to form a light engine comprising the light source and the light guide. The optically coupled light guide and light source are encased within an encapsulating bulk, wherein the encapsulating bulk includes at least one viewable surface, and where the light transmissive end of the light guide is viewable at said at least one viewable surface. An obscuring layer is formed on one or more of the at least one viewable surface for obscuring the transmissive end of the light guide from view when the light source is in the selective off state.

A recyclable graphic media includes a polymeric substrate having a first side and a second side, a release liner, and an adhesive applied to release liner. The adhesive is disposed between the release liner and the substrate. The adhesive is dissolvable from the substrate such that the substrate can be recycled. The recyclable graphic media can be a floor graphic. A release liner having a release material and an adhesive applied to the release material is also disclosed.

An apparatus for ground-based advertising is provided. A back unit includes a floor defining a perimeter, ridges extending from the floor and about the perimeter to define a depression, and a cover configured to be slid into the depression and supported by the back and side ridges. A number of holes are located in the back unit to fasten the back unit to the ground. Another hole is located at the edge of the back unit and cover positioned to be aligned when the cover is installed on the back unit. A cavity is defined by the back unit and the cover into which advertisements and parking space numbers are placed.

A device for displaying an advertisement in a parking lot which has a number of parking spaces includes a back unit configured for placement at a predetermined position associated with one of the respective parking spaces in said parking lot. A cover is mounted to said back unit such that said back unit and said cover form an enclosed compartment. A slot is positioned within said cover is configured to receive an advertisement for deposit within said enclosed compartment. A material capable of undergoing phosphorescence is positioned within said enclosed compartment to illuminate deposited advertisements.

The invention discloses devices for providing continuous advertising content within a plurality of dedicated parking lot advertising infrastructure units called capsules. Advertisements are generally placed in a waterproof space defined by a back unit and a clear, hard-plastic cover. A display unit or a physical advertisement may be placed in the space. Lighting and Internet connectivity may be provided to improve the performance and range of parking lot advertising capsules.

An electronic display is positioned within said enclosed compartment and is configured to display the advertising images. A controller is in electronic communication with the electronic display. A battery is electrically connected to said electronic display.

A system and method for installing a ground-based advertising unit is provided. The ground-based advertising unit comprises an aperture for accepting a fastener. A hole is drilled into a surface. An adhesive is applied to the hole. An anchor which is configured to mate with the fastener is inserted into the hole. The adhesive is cured. The fastener is inserted through the aperture. The fastener is mated with the anchor.

A decal assembly applied to a finished wood floor comprising a visible layer, a clear layer adhered to the visible layer, and a floor finish layer, wherein an outer surface of the floor finish has a coefficient of friction similar to the finished wood floor. The floor finish may be water-based or oil-based and the decal assembly may include an adhesion promotion layer disposed between the clear layer and the floor finish layer. The decal assembly may also include the clear layer having a roughened outer surface. The decal may be installed on a wood floor by laminating a clear layer to a visible layer, roughening an outer surface of the clear layer and applying a floor finish to the outer surface of the clear layer after the roughening step. An adhesion promotion layer may also be applied between the clear layer and the floor finish layer.
