An augmented reality projection system includes a projector aimed at a reflective coating, a processor operably coupled to the projector and a virtual image bank accessible from the processor. A motorized gimbal positioning system aims the projector for various effects. A camera determines image locations and distortion. GPS and IMU devices supply location and motion information for determining location and heading relevant images. Communications with a smart phone enable user interaction and input. Thus a relevant interactive augmented reality display is created for the benefit of a passenger.

A safety sign device for a vehicle may include a first sign having proximal and distal ends, and a first hinge being coupled to the proximal end of the first sign, the first hinge being coupled to a side of the vehicle. The safety sign device may include a second hinge being coupled to the distal end of the first sign, a second sign having a medial portion coupled to the second hinge, and an arm coupled between the second sign and the side of the vehicle and configured to extend and retract the first and second signs between a retracted position and an extended position. The first and second signs may be transverse to each other in the extended position, and be flat against the side of the vehicle in the retracted position. The safety sign device may include a first flexible arm coupled to the first sign.

An illuminated plate for motor vehicles includes: a base sheet; an electroluminescent sheet; a background sheet which is transparent, translucent, or reflective, and which has a cutout section constituted by openings shaped in characters for display; character inserts which are transparent or translucent and shaped in the characters, which character inserts are infixed in the corresponding openings of the characters in the cutout section; and a clear cover sheet.

This invention discloses a device and method for mounting and changeably displaying visual communications, including messages, logos, advertisement, public service announcements or indicia, on a vehicle. It incorporates a frame mounted on a license plate, optionally within the license plate recess at the front or rear of a vehicle, and utilizes panels that are continuous with or removeably attached to a central component framing the license plate in order to optimize visual appeal, minimize aerodynamic drag, and reduce or eliminate potential clearance issues. A removeably attachable panel configuration allows for panels to be mounted on one or both lateral sides, providing a means for customization based on a vehicle's exterior design or user preference.

Autonomous vehicle is provided which includes a plurality of sales bins positioned on a side of the vehicle. An awning is configured to deploy from the vehicle over the sales bins. The awning includes a first light source which is configured to illuminate a ground space proximate the awning. A second light source is configured to illuminate the sales bins. A sensor is configured to detect an electronic device proximate the vehicle.

A window for a vehicle is provided herein. The window includes a light guide disposed between an outer panel and an inner panel. A light source is optically coupled with the light guide and is configured to direct excitation light towards a luminescent structure. The luminescent structure luminesces in response to receiving the excitation light. A controller is configured to illuminate the light source when an electronic device having an application thereon is in operation.

A vehicular video display system is provided including a vehicle, a video display attached to the vehicle, a source of advertisements unrelated to the operation of the vehicle, a source of one or more images representing the vehicle's operation, and an operational sensor device which detects one or more changes in the operation of the vehicle. In addition, the display system includes a controller which is connected to the advertisements, images and operational sensor. The controller ceases the display of advertisements upon the video display in the event that operational sensor device detects a change in the operation of the vehicle, and causes the video display to display one or more of said images on said video display indicating the change in operation of the vehicle.

A mobile truck body has a first panel extending forward from the front of a right side truck body panel and a second panel extending rearward from the rear of the right side truck body panel. Vehicle mounted exterior displays and digital license plates able to operate over a wide temperature range are disclosed. In one embodiment, heat relevant display parameters can be modified as critical low temperatures are approached. If decreasing temperature is determined to be likely to interfere with display switching operation, legally required information is displayed and potentially interfering content is eliminated.

Digital license plates having a range of physical and digital antitheft features are disclosed. Disengagement of the digital license plate from the vehicle triggers at least one of a wireless theft communication signal and the internal theft status indicator. Input of security credentials can prevent triggering the internal theft status indicator and disablement of the digital license plate.
