DRUM HEAD AND DRUM
A drum head includes: a skin has a plurality of openings arranged along a periphery of the skin; and a reinforcement provided on at least a portion of peripheral edges of the plurality of openings.
Tuning of a drum
A method for assisting a user in tuning a drum comprising the steps of: considering a strike on the drum whereby the strike is detected in a sensor signal in at least one of following domains: a time domain, a frequency domain, a complex domain; recording a first sound fragment of the strike; converting the first sound fragment from the time domain to the frequency domain; analyzing the first sound fragment in order to detect a fundamental tone with fundamental tone frequency of the drum; calculating an overtone frequency or overtone frequency range of a first overtone of the drum by means of a predetermined algorithm related to the fundamental tone frequency; setting a filter with a pass frequency band covering the calculated overtone frequency or overtone frequency range; and indicating, via a user interface, at each further strike when the frequency of the first overtone detected in the pass frequency band is higher or lower than a target overtone frequency.

TONE-ENHANCING DRUM SHELL AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING SAME
A drum having modified tone qualities is provided. The drum has a generally cylindrical inner shell positioned within a generally cylindrical outer shell. The inner shell has at least one sound-transmitting aperture defined therethrough so that the sound-transmitting aperture provides an unobstructed passageway for sound waves to pass through to reach the outer shell. In some aspects, an insert for modifying the tone qualities of a drum is provided. In some aspects, the outer shell has one or more inwardly extending protrusions co-located with and extending through the at least one sound transmitting aperture.
PERCUSSION INSTRUMENT DRIVING DEVICE AND PERCUSSION INSTRUMENT KIT
A percussion instrument driving device includes an actuator and an actuator mount. The actuator includes an actuator surface configured to vibrate in response to an electrical signal to vibrate a vibration surface of a percussion instrument from outside of the percussion instrument. The actuator mount is disposed outside the percussion instrument having a vibration surface. The actuator mount is configured to mount the actuator to the percussion instrument from outside of the percussion instrument, with the actuator surface facing the vibration surface and spaced from the vibration surface.
Drum pad
A drum pad includes a base portion having a top base surface and constructed from a first material. A strike portion having a top strike surface is defined by a perimeter. The perimeter is totally surrounded by the base portion. The strike portion is constructed from a second material, different from the first material. The top base surface and the top strike surface are co-planar.
Film formed snare and reduced volume snare drumhead
A snare unit formed from film material includes a plurality of slots that define segments. The snare unit is attachable relative to a drumhead with a surface of the film flat against a surface of the drumhead. In the attached position, one or more of the segments vibrates against the drumhead when the drumhead is struck to produce a snare-like audible sound. In a drumhead with reduced volume, the snare unit is positioned flat against one or more layers of a porous material to define a drumhead and attached such that a portion of the snare unit vibrates against a surface of the porous material when the drumhead is struck, thereby producing a snare-like sound having a volume reduced relative to a standard drumhead.
Systems, devices, and/or methods for snare drums
An exemplary snare drum system comprises a shell, a batter head, a snare head, and a set of wires coupled to the snare head. The system comprises a tensioner coupleable to the set of wires of the snare drum. The tensioner comprising a base, a coarse adjuster, and a fine adjuster.
ELECTRONIC PERCUSSION INSTRUMENT
An electronic percussion instrument includes a base and a drumhead mounted resiliently on the base so as to be movable relative to the base. A plurality of sensors to detect movement of the drumhead relative to the base are spaced about the drumhead at selected positions to measure displacement of the drumhead relative to the base at said selected positions. At least some of said sensors are adjacent the rim of the drumhead and are responsive to movement of the rim of the drumhead towards and away from the base. The individual sensors respond to the movement at their location and the individual responses of the plurality of sensors are simultaneously measured and compared to determine the location of a hit on the drumhead, the force of the hit, and/or the duration of the hit.
