RECIRCULATION FILTER FOR AN ENCLOSURE
20170333820 · 2017-11-23 ·

The technology disclosed herein relates to filter assemblies and methods of making filter assemblies. One filter assembly has a first sheet of filter media having a first perimeter region and a second sheet of filter media having a second perimeter region. The first perimeter region and the second perimeter region are bonded in a rim region. A plurality of adsorbent beads are disposed between the first sheet of filter media and the second layer of filter media, and a substantial portion of the plurality of adsorbent beads are unbonded. Other embodiments are also described.

Sealed bulkhead electrical feed-through positioning control

An electrical feed-through, such as a PCB connector, involves at least one positioning protrusion protruding from a main body, and may further include multiple positioning protrusions protruding in respective directions from the main body. A data storage device employing such a feed-through includes an enclosure base with which the feed-through is coupled. The base includes an annular recessed surface surrounding an aperture that is encompassed by the feed-through and is at a first level, and at least one recessed positioning surface at a higher level than the first level, and extending in a direction away from the annular recessed surface. The positioning protrusion of the electrical feed-through contacts the recessed positioning surface of the base, such that the position of the feed-through is constrained by the recessed positioning surface.

Disk device to cover a welded part or a housing with a protective member

According to one embodiment, a disk device includes a recording medium of a disk form, a magnetic head, a housing, and a first protective member made of a resin. The recording medium includes a recording layer. The magnetic head is configured to read/write information from/to the recording medium. The housing includes a base provided with an inner chamber in which the recording medium and the magnetic head are accommodated, a cover that covers the inner chamber, and a welded part at which the base and the cover are welded to each other. The first protective member is located outside the housing, to cover at least part of the welded part.

Shield for external welds of hermetically sealed electronics devices

Described herein is a system that includes a hard disk drive. The hard disk drive includes a base and a cover welded to the base by a weld bead. The base and the cover form a hermetically sealed housing. The system further includes a shield, coupled to an exterior of the hermetically sealed housing over the weld bead. The shield also is spaced-apart from the weld bead.

Disk device and method of manufacturing disk device

According to one embodiment, a disk device includes a disk-shaped recording medium, a head which processes data on the recording medium, and a housing accommodating the recording medium and the head. The housing includes a base with a side wall, and a cover having a welded portion welded to the side wall by laser welding. The welded portion includes a first welded portion welded to a first region of the side wall and having weld beads with a first shape, and a second welded portion welded to a second region of the side wall and having welded beads with a second shape different from the first shape.

Base for protecting external welds of hermetically sealed electronic devices

Described herein is a hard disk drive that includes a base and a cover. The base includes a closed end, sidewalls, an open end, and one or more corner portions. The sidewalls extend from the closed end, and the open end is defined by the sidewalls. The closed end, sidewalls, and open end define an interior cavity of the hard disk drive. Each corner portion is proximate a respective intersection of the sidewalls and positioned exteriorly of the interior cavity. The cover is welded to the sidewalls over the open end by a weld bead such that the weld bead is positioned between the interior cavity and the corner portions. The weld bead hermetically seals the cover to the base. Furthermore, at least one of the corner portions is at least substantially flush with the cover.

Hard disk drive with feedthrough connector

Described herein is an apparatus that includes a housing that defines an interior cavity. The housing also includes a feedthrough aperture. The apparatus also includes an electrical connector that is coupled to the housing over the feedthrough aperture. The electrical connector includes a base, a plurality of pins extending through the base, and a skirt positioned about a periphery of the base. The pins extend from a location external to the housing to a location within the interior cavity of the housing. Further, an inner surface of the base is co-planar with an outer end of the feedthrough aperture. The apparatus also includes solder positioned on the housing and against an entire periphery of the skirt to seal the electrical connector to the housing.

Hermetically-sealed data storage device for increased disk diameter

A data storage device involves inner surfaces of sidewalls of a second cover overlapping with and adhesively bonded with the outer surfaces of sidewalls of an enclosure base having an uppermost top surface, where the second cover or an underlying first cover are removably adhered to the uppermost top surface of the base. The removable adhesive bond may comprise a pressure-sensitive adhesive, which can provide for reworkability during the manufacturing and testing process. The second cover-to-base sidewall bond may form a hermetic seal between the second cover and the base. Hence, a thinner base sidewall adjacent to the recording disks is enabled, leaving more space available for larger-diameter recording disks within a standard form factor, hermetically-sealed storage device, which may be filled with a lighter-than-air gas.

DISK DRIVE
