A nuclear reactor system includes a nuclear reactor core disposed in a pressure vessel. Nuclear reactor system further includes control drums disposed longitudinally within the pressure vessel and laterally surrounding fuel elements and at least one moderator element of the nuclear reactor core to control reactivity. Each of the control drums includes a reflector material and an absorber material. Nuclear reactor system further includes a control drum controller with a counterweight to impart a reverse torque on the control drum. Control drum controller includes a driven pulley coupled to the counterweight, a tension member coupled to the driven pulley to rotatably control the driven pulley and apply torque to the driven pulley, and an actuator to apply a tension force to the tension member. The actuator counteracts the reverse torque with the applied tension force, and the tension member applies the torque in response to the tension force.

A method is for controlling a nuclear power plant comprising pressurized water nuclear reactor (3) having a reactor core producing power, a primary circuit (5) connecting the reactor core to a steam generator (9), one or more of control rods (16), which can be moved into the reactor core for controlling the power of the reactor core, an injecting device (22, 23, 24, 26, 28, 30) for injecting boric acid and/or deionized water into the primary circuit (5) for controlling the reactivity of the reactor core.

A control assembly for a nuclear reactor includes a first reactivity control assembly having a first neutron modifying material, a second reactivity control assembly having a second neutron modifying material, and at least one drive mechanism coupled to the first neutron modifying material and the second neutron modifying material. The first neutron modifying material and the second neutron modifying material are selectively repositionable relative to a fuel region of the nuclear reactor. The at least one drive mechanism is configured to provide the first neutron modifying material and the second neutron modifying material in different directions through the fuel region thereby shifting a flux distribution within the fuel region away from the second neutron modifying material.
Flux-shifting reactivity control system
A control assembly for a nuclear reactor includes a first reactivity control assembly having a first neutron modifying material, a second reactivity control assembly having a second neutron modifying material, and at least one drive mechanism coupled to the first neutron modifying material and the second neutron modifying material. The first neutron modifying material and the second neutron modifying material are selectively repositionable relative to a fuel region of the nuclear reactor. Nuclear Fuel Assembly with a Reinforcement Device
A nuclear fuel assembly comprises nuclear fuel rods (4) extending along a longitudinal axis (L) and a support skeleton (6) configured to support the nuclear fuel rods (4). The support skeleton (6) includes two end pieces (8, 10), a plurality of guide tubes (12) connecting the end pieces (8, 10) to each other, and spacer grids (14) attached to the guide tubes (12), with each spacer grid (14) supporting the nuclear fuel rods (4). The nuclear fuel assembly further includes at least one reinforcement device (20) comprising at least one reinforcement plate (22) which is in contact with at least two of the guide tubes (12) and attached to one or more of the guide tubes (12) at attachment points (21). Each reinforcement plate (22) has at least two attachment points (21) that are offset relative to each other along the longitudinal axis (L).

A nuclear reactor includes: a fuel portion being a reactor core having a nuclear fuel body; a shielding portion covering all over outer sides of the fuel portion to shield against radiations generated from the reactor core; and a thermal conduction part that conducts heat generated in the reactor core to exterior of the shield part. The nuclear fuel body contains a fissile material with an enrichment not less than 5% by weight throughout an operation period.
