SUCTION HEAD FOR A VACUUM CLEANER AND METHOD OF OPERATION
This invention relates to a suction head (10) for a vacuum cleaner and method of operation. The suction head (10) has a bottom surface (26) and one or more floor-engaging parts (36) adjacent to the bottom surface (26), an opening (24) in the bottom surface (26) and a rotatable brush (30) located at the opening (24). The suction head (10) has a front end (16) and a rear end (18), the front end (16) having a recess (22) in communication with the opening (24). A movable strip (42) is located in the recess (22), the movable strip (42) being movable between a first position and a second position, the bottom edge of the movable strip 4(2) being closer to the plane of the floor-engaging parts (36) in its first position than in its second position. At least one first element (54) is connected to the movable strip (42) and is able to project to the plane of the floor-engaging parts (36). At least one second element (56) is also connected to the movable strip (42), the second element(s) (56) being configured differently to the first element(s) (54), the second element(s) (56) being able to project to the plane of the floor-engaging parts (36) and being configured to move the movable strip (42) to a third position in use. The bottom edge of the movable strip (42) is closer to the plane of the floor-engaging parts (36) in its second position than in its third position. According to the method of operation, the movable strip (42) moves to its first position during backwards movement of the suction head (10) and to its third position during forwards movement of the suction head (10), the movable strip (42) moving to its third position in two stages.
VACUUM TOOLS
A vacuum tool that is removably couplable to a hose or wand of a vacuum.
VACUUM TOOLS

DUSTING AND DUST COLLECTING DEVICE
A dusting and dust collecting device comprising; a hollow body (A) comprising a hollow section and an outer shell, anda dust brushing means (D), wherein the hollow body (A) comprising an open end (11), the open end (11) being open to the hollow section of the hollow body (A), and adapted to be connected to an external vacuum source by fastening means (4). The hollow body (A) comprising a plurality of grooves (1) arranged along an outer circumference of the hollow body (1) creating a plurality of canals, and wherein at least one perforation (2) extends from the hollow section of the hollow body and through the outer shell and connects with at least one of the plurality of grooves (1) for distributing a vacuum in the at least one of the plurality of canals when a dust brushing means (D) is covering the at least one of the plurality of grooves (1), and the hollow body (A) is connected to the external vacuum source.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ATTACHING A FLOOR TOOL TO A VACUUM FRAME
An apparatus is provided for attaching floor tools to a wheeled vehicle. The apparatus includes a mounting frame configured to secure to a frame of the wheeled vehicle and a floating frame rotatably attached to the mounting frame. The apparatus also includes pickup tubes attached to the floating frame. The pickup tubes are configured to attach to the floor tools. The floating frame is configured to move relative to the mounting frame based on undulations in a floor surface over which the floor tools travel. In other embodiments, a method is provided for assembling the apparatus. In still other embodiments, a method is provided for using the above apparatus with the wheeled vehicle. In still other embodiments, a wheeled vehicle is provided that includes the above apparatus and the one or more floor tools attached to the wheeled vehicle with the apparatus.
VACUUM CLEANER
A vacuum cleaner includes a housing having a suction nozzle opening, a source of suction in fluid communication with the suction nozzle opening for generating a working air stream through the housing, and a multiply-adjustable debris collecting blade coupled along the rear of the suction nozzle opening for collecting debris.
Floor cleaning head
A floor cleaning head 10 comprises a body portion 12 and a pivotally attached nozzle 16. The nozzle 16 comprises resiliently flexible front and rear extending elongate blades 33, 34 depending from the underside thereof and a transversely extending suction mouth 20 disposed between the blades 33, 34, and intersected by a steam inlet duct 37 to form frontal and rear portions 20F, 20R. The orientation of the nozzle 16 is altered by a mechanism 23, such that the leading blade 33, 34 raises to allow dust and debris to pass beneath, while the trailing blade 34, 33 lowers to form a working edge against the floor surface, against which, dust, dirty water and debris gathers for removal by the induced airflow of an attached floor cleaner (not shown). The head 10 is thus configured to perform separate vacuuming and steam cleaning operations simultaneously, in a single pass.
