METHOD FOR FABRICATING SPECKLE FOR HIGH TEMPERATURE DEFORMATION MEASUREMENT OF SHAPED REFRACTORY MATERIAL
The disclosure relates to a method for fabricating a speckle for high temperature deformation measurement of a shaped refractory material. A technical solution includes mixing a hercynite micropowder and a liquid mixing agent in a mass ratio of (3-6):1, and ultrasonically treating to obtain a speckle mixture; polishing a surface of a shaped refractory material to be measured, removing impurities, and spraying the speckle mixture on the surface of the shaped refractory material to be measured with a pneumatic airbrush in a time hood to obtain an uncured speckle; heating the uncured speckle to 60-80° C., keeping for 1-3 h, then heating to 100-120° C., and keeping for 1-3 h to obtain a speckle for high temperature deformation measurement of a shaped refractory material. The fabricated product is suitable for high temperature deformation measurement of a shaped refractory material at 1,600° C.
Apparatus and method for facilitating a vacuum bagging operation during fabrication of a composite laminate
A method is provided for facilitating a vacuum bagging operation during fabrication of a composite laminate. The method comprises applying a vacuum bag over a composite part to fabricate the composite laminate from the composite part. The method also comprises drawing a vacuum in the vacuum bag, and monitoring one or more portions of the vacuum bag for strain within the vacuum bag when the vacuum is drawn. The method further comprises manipulating the vacuum bag to even out strain within the vacuum bag.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MACHINE LEARNING USING OPTICAL DATA
A system may include an optical source and an adjustable spatial light modulator coupled to the optical source. The system may further include a medium coupled to the adjustable spatial light modulator. The system may further include a beam splitter coupled to the optical source and the adjustable spatial light modulator. The beam splitter may generate a first optical signal and a second optical signal using the optical source. The system may further include an optical detector coupled to the beam splitter and the medium. The optical detector may obtain a combined optical signal including a resulting optical signal and the second optical signal. The resulting optical signal may be produced by transmitting the first optical signal through the medium at a predetermined spatial light modulation using the adjustable spatial light modulator.

The method may include: scanning the object at a first resolution by alternately and repeatedly photo-acoustically exciting and sensing each of multiple first regions on the object to yield multiple first outputs; determining, based on the multiple first outputs, at least one first region of the multiple first regions that includes at least one zone and a specific depth of the at least one zone below a surface of the object; scanning the first region that includes the at least one zone at a second resolution by alternately and repeatedly photo-acoustically exciting and sensing each of multiple second regions in the at least one first region thereof to yield multiple second outputs; and determining, based on at least one of the multiple second outputs, specified parameters of the at least one zone.
DEFECT INSPECTION APPARATUS
A defect inspection apparatus generates a surface layer inspection image which is an image representing displacement of an inspection target in a measurement region based on an intensity pattern of interfered laser light. The defect inspection apparatus is configured to generate an appearance inspection image which is an image of an outer surface of the measurement region based on an intensity pattern of incoherent light.
Shearography detection and classification
A system for classifying objects detected in shearographic images identifying via a derivative peaks method, process, or algorithm is accomplished with a CNN (CNN). The system utilized training techniques of the CNN to classify objects as threats or non-threats. The system utilizes extracted clips from the shearographic image that contain the presence of an object so that the extracted clip containing the object is/are evaluated by the CNN to classify the object on or below a surface that has been insonified or otherwise stimulated to generate the shearographic image.
Method for testing a tire by interferometry
A method for testing a tire by interferometry in a pressure chamber of a tire testing device includes capturing phase images at different pressures in the pressure chamber, generating partial phase difference images between successive phase images, and summing the partial phase difference images to form an overall phase difference image. The pressure in the pressure chamber is changed in a first direction during a first measurement phase and the pressure is changed in the opposite direction during a second measurement phase, wherein at least one partial phase difference image from the first measurement phase and at least one partial phase difference image from the second measurement phase are included in the summation.

Multiscale deformation measurements leveraging tailorable and multispectral speckle patterns
Remote measurements using images are particularly useful in structural health monitoring cases in which the installation of contact sensors is difficult. Some limitations, though, associated with photogrammetry-type optical metrology involve the application of speckle patterns, which become even more important with variable working distance or when the required resolution and sensitivity are not a priori known. In this context, multispectral sensing combined with tailored speckle patterns can circumvent some of the challenges of acquiring data at different working distances. The present invention uses multispectral imaging combined controlled generation of speckle patterns to demonstrate an approach for remote sensing related to deformation measurements at the structural level. To demonstrate this approach, two speckle patterns were designed for measurements at specified working distances. The results show that the spectral specific reflectivity of the speckle patterns allow for spatial overlay without affecting imaging within either spectral range considered, which results in the extraction of multiscale deformation measurements.
