APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR ANALYSIS OF A MOVING SLURRY

Means for analysis of a moving slurry of solid particles in a liquid medium that comprises: causing the slurry to flow with fully developed turbulence in a vertical pipe such that the flowing slurry fills the entire cross-section of the pipe; providing a transparent window in a wall of the pipe, said window being flush with an inside of the pipe; emitting light from a light source through the window, onto the flowing slurry inside the pipe in an examination zone; taking a plurality of individual measurements of individual solid particles in the flowing slurry by collecting light returned from the examination zone; collating the results of a statistically significant number of the individual measurements to provide a characteristic of the flowing slurry, as a whole.

FRAMEWORK FOR IMAGE BASED UNSUPERVISED CELL CLUSTERING AND SORTING
20220155232 · 2022-05-19 ·

A framework that includes a feature extractor and a cluster component for clustering is described herein. The framework supports (1) offline image-based unsupervised clustering that replaces time-consuming manual gating; (2) online image-based single cell sorting. During training, one or multiple cell image datasets with or without ground truth are used to train feature extractor, which is based on a neural network including several convolutional layers. Once trained, the feature extractor is used to extract features of cell images for unsupervised cell clustering and sorting. In addition, additional datasets may be used to further refine the feature extractor after it has been trained.

POLLUTION TYPE SENSING

Systems and methods classify pollutants based on multifactor analysis of data from sensors in a monitored area and contextual data from remote or local sources. Classifying a pollutant in air at a monitored area may include operating a particulate matter sensor to produce raw data representing measurements of particulate matter in the air, evaluating pulses in the raw data to determine a pulse width and a maximum for each pulse, and identifying a type for the pollutant in the air using a classification model and data including the pulse widths and the maxima of the pulses. The data use in classification may further include non-particulate measurements from local chemical or environmental sensors and contextual data from the cloud or from local user devices.

SYSTEMS, DEVICES, AND METHODS FOR QUALITY CONTROL OF CELL PRODUCTION USING PREDICTIVE TAGGING

The present invention provides various methods for easily assessing cell quality of a cell production process, suitably using non-invasive visual methods and neural networks for generating predictive fluorescence images of cells to assess quality attributes. Also provided are systems and methods for carrying out such processes.

Information processing apparatus, information processing method, program, and observation system for cell image capture

[Object] To provide an information processing apparatus, an information processing method, a program, and an observation system with which images of cells under observation are efficiently captured. [Solving Means] An information processing apparatus according to the present technology includes an image-capture controller unit, an image-capture area classifier unit, and an observation controller unit. The image-capture controller unit controls an image-capture mechanism to capture images of a culture vessel including a plurality of wells that house cells for each image-capture area. The image-capture area classifier unit applies image processing to the images captured by the image-capture mechanism and classifies the plurality of image-capture areas into a first image-capture area of which image-capturing is continued and a second image-capture area of which image-capturing is not continued on the basis of a result of the image processing. The observation controller unit instructs the image-capture controller unit to capture an image of an image-capture area classified as the first image-capture area and not to capture an image of an image-capture area as the second image-capture area.

Observation container and microparticle measurement device

An observation container (10) includes: a bottom portion that includes a bottom wall (12A) (first plate part) and a bottom wall (12B) (second plate part) which intersect each other and that is configured to accommodate a liquid sample O as a sample containing microparticles to be imaged by imaging units (30A) and (30B) serving as an imaging device; and a region that has transparency with respect to a wavelength of light used for observation of the microparticles.

Sequencing of nucleic acids via barcoding in discrete entities

Microfluidic methods for barcoding nucleic acid target molecules to be analyzed, e.g., via nucleic acid sequencing techniques, are provided. Also provided are microfluidic, droplet-based methods of preparing nucleic acid barcodes for use in various barcoding applications. The methods described herein facilitate high-throughput sequencing of nucleic acid target molecules as well as single cell and single virus genomic, transcriptomic, and/or proteomic analysis/profiling. Systems and devices for practicing the subject methods are also provided.

Monitor for environmental particulate matter size, concentration, and complex index of refraction

Apparatus and methods for determining particle size, and optionally, the complex index of refraction for particle suspended in a gas or liquid are provided. The particle to be analyzed is caused to travel through a laser beam having a modified Gaussian profile. The particle causes light from the laser beam to scatter. The scattered light is measured by one or more photodetectors disposed at a particular scattering angle relative to the center of the laser beam. The apparatus and methods can be used in sensors configured to monitor air quality in enclosed environments, such as on-board aircraft and within buildings, and/or detect environmental contaminants.
