A dishwasher with a tub at least partially defining a treating chamber, a liquid spraying system supplying a spray of liquid to the treating chamber, a liquid recirculation system defining a recirculation flow path, and a liquid filtering system having a rotating filter. A chopping system is included to macerate foreign objects within the recirculation flow path and includes a blade mounted to the rotating filter.

A dishwasher appliance and method of operation is provided. The dishwasher appliance may include a tub defining a wash chamber, a coarse filter disposed, a recirculation pump, and a drain pump. The method may include activating the recirculation pump to flow wash fluid through the coarse filter in a primary flow direction, and activating the drain pump to flow wash fluid through the coarse filter in the primary flow direction for an initial purge cycle. Further included may be flushing wash fluid through the coarse filter and into the tub in a secondary flow direction opposite from the primary flow direction. Still further included may be activating the recirculation pump to flow wash fluid through the coarse filter in the primary flow direction, and activating the drain pump to flow wash fluid through the coarse filter in the primary flow direction for an additional purge cycle.

A filter assembly for filtering wash fluid in a dishwasher appliance is provided. The filter assembly includes an outer body defining an interior and an inlet port and extending along a longitudinal axis between a first upstream end and a second downstream end. The filter assembly further includes an inner body disposed radially inward of the outer body and at least partially within the interior of the outer body. The inner body defines an interior and an outlet port. The inner body includes a filter portion and a solid body portion. The filter portion positioned upstream of the solid body portion in a flow direction along the longitudinal axis. An inlet flow path defined by the inlet port is non-parallel to the longitudinal axis.

Disclosed is a dishwasher comprising a tub defining a washing space, a sump provided to collect the wash water injected into the tub, a supply pump provided to supply the wash water stored in the sump to the tub, a filter provided in the sump and comprising a first body having a plurality of first holes formed along a lateral circumferential surface; and a second body arranged in a radially inner side of the first body and having a plurality of second holes formed along a lateral circumferential surface, wherein the second body comprises an external wall portion in which the second holes are formed and an internal wall portion positioned in a radially inner side of the external wall and vertically extended.

A dishwasher, in particular a household dishwasher, includes a circulation pump for circulating a washing liquid in a hydraulic circuit. Connected to an induction side of the circulation pump is a pump sump through which washing liquid flows. The sump pump includes at least one filter element that retains dirt particles contained in the washing liquid and can be cleaned by at least one cleaning device provided in the pump sump.

The method includes finely filtering wash fluid with a fine filtration medium via cross-flow filtration and coarsely filtering wash fluid with a coarse filtration medium via dead-end filtration.
