System-level malfunction indicator in autonomous vehicles
Devices, systems and methods for using system-level malfunction indicators to monitor the operation and resiliency of the autonomous driving system components are described. One example of a method for diagnosing a fault in a component of an autonomous vehicle includes receiving, from an electrical sub-component of the component, an electrical signal, receiving, from an electronic sub-component of the component, a message, and determining, based on the electrical signal and the message, an operational status of the component.
Systems and methods for testing gas leak detectors
A system and a method for accurately testing gas leak detectors by considering multiple operational parameters as per the standard requirements are disclosed. The system comprises one or more gas cylinders, a test execution chamber, mass flow controllers (MFCs), and a control system. The test execution chamber is connected to the gas cylinders via test gas pipelines and a plurality of valves, and the mass flow controllers. The test execution chamber further comprises a first chamber and a second chamber, which are connected to form a closed cycle, thereby saving consumption of the testing gases. The control system in communication with the mechanized system, thereby controlling the operation of the system for accurately testing the gas leak detector test samples. The performance of the one or more gas leak detector test samples is controlled by adjusting the density of the testing gas to a predetermined value and as per the standard requirements.
Sensor Device and Method for Operating A Sensor Device
In an embodiment a sensor device include a first sensor including a heating element configured to heat up the first sensor in a controllable manner and a second sensor thermally coupled to the heating element of the first sensor such that the heating element is further configured to heat up the second sensor in a controllable manner.
COMMERCIAL AND RESIDENTIAL METER BYPASS SYSTEM
A method includes attaching a gas capture device to a bypass system adjacent to a gas meter. The method also includes rotating an internal cartridge near the gas meter to a bypass mode. The rotation of the internal cartridge enables gas to be diverted through a bypass system and away from the gas meter into an outlet. Remaining gas is captured from the gas meter to prevent the gas from releasing externally. The gas meter is removed from its original position. The internal cartridge is rotated from the bypass mode to a purge mode.
Dynamic comparative diagnostics for catalytic structures and combustible gas sensors including catalytic structures
A combustible gas sensor for detecting an analyte gas includes a first element including a first electric heating element, a first support structure on the first electric heating element and a first catalyst supported on the first support structure and electronic circuitry in electrical connection with the first element. The electronic circuitry is configured to provide energy to the first element to heat the first element to at least a first temperature at which the first catalyst catalyzes combustion of the analyte gas and to determine if the analyte gas is present based on a response of the first element to being heated to at least the first temperature. The electronic circuitry is further configured to apply an interrogation pulse to the first element in which energy to the first element is increased or decreased to induce an associated response from the first element.
Calibrated mobile gas sensor
A mobile gas monitor is presented. In accordance with some embodiments, a mobile gas monitor includes a gas sensor; a mobile device coupled to the gas sensor, the mobile device executing instructions to: read data from the gas sensor; provide calibration; and provide calibrated concentrations based on the data from the gas sensor.
Calibrationless operation method
A method that includes obtaining a sensor reading from a sensor installed inside an underground vault and determining whether the sensor reading is indicative of an alarm state. When the sensor reading is indicative of the alarm state, the method obtains at least one new reading and determines whether the sensor reading includes sensor drift based at least in part on the at least one new reading. The alarm state is established when the sensor reading is determined not to include sensor drift. The sensor drift is removed when the sensor reading is determined to include sensor drift.
Methods of using dilution of a second type to calibrate one or more sensors
A system that includes a gas sensor, a fresh air flow controller, a sample flow controller, and a system controller. The fresh air flow controller is configured to deliver fresh air to the gas sensor. The sample flow controller is configured to deliver a sample to the gas sensor. The system controller has a processor connected to memory storing instructions that are executable by the processor. When executed, the instructions cause the processor to determine an intermix ratio of the sample to the fresh air, instruct the fresh air flow controller and the sample flow controller to deliver the fresh air and the sample, respectively, to the gas sensor in accordance with the intermix ratio, and receive a sensor reading from the gas sensor after the fresh air flow controller and the sample flow controller have adjusted the fresh air and the sample, respectively.
Method for Electrochemical Gas Sensor Diagnostics
Baseline noise in electrochemical sensors is useful. Reduction in baseline noise over a period of time when an electrochemical sensor is exposed to sudden changes in environmental conditions provides indication that an electrochemical sensor should be replaced. Stop changes in sensitivity confirm that test. Drops in baseline noise during high winds predict weather events. Frequency of electrochemical sensor noise is used to detect ambient sound waves.
METHOD FOR ASSESSING THE OPERATABILITY OF A SENSOR FOR DETECTING SOOT
A method for evaluating the functionality of a ceramic sensor for detecting soot, the sensor including two measurement electrodes exposable to an exhaust and spaced apart from one another, and an electrical resistance heating element. The method includes: activating the resistance heating element to heat up the sensor and to burn soot off the two measurement electrodes; then deactivating the resistance heating element; then waiting for a first predetermined time period and/or waiting until a signal that is received from the sensor and represents the sensor temperature reaches a first predefined value; then measuring a first variable representing the electrical resistance between the measurement electrodes; then evaluating the functionality of the sensor based on the first variable representing the electrical resistance between the measurement electrodes.
