Methods for Detection and Removal of Dioxins, Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons, Semi-Volatile Organic Compounds, Metals, Toxins, and other Contaminants from Surfaces, Water, and/or Air with Open-Cell Foam
A method of detecting the presence of one or more chemical contaminants that are present as part of a mixture of chemical contaminants by exposing to a mixture of chemical contaminants, a chemical mixture indicator comprising a polymer foam material that is open-celled or partially open-celled and after a time that is sufficient to accumulate one or more contaminants in the polymer foam, testing some or all of the chemical mixture indicator for the presence of the one or more contaminants.
ANALYZER FOR AUTOMATICALLY DETECTING AND QUANTIFYING GLUTARALDEHYDE IN BIOCIDE PRODUCTS
An analyzer is disclosed for detecting and quantifying a glutaraldehyde (GLUT) composition in a water sample. The analyzer includes a peristaltic pump and a three-way valve, where the pump draws in a water sample comprising a GLUT composition through the 3-way valve. The analyzer also includes a 6-way valve that receives the water sample and a bovine serum albumin-coated gold (Au-BSA) nanoclusters reagent. The analyzer also includes: a debubbler that receive a mixture of the water sample and the reagent and removes bubbles from the mixture; and a reaction coil that receives the water sample and the reagent from the debubbler, such that they are reacted. The analyzer further includes a fluorescence flow cell that receives the reacted mixture; measures a fluorescence intensity of the Au-BSA nanoclusters in the mixture; and determines a concentration of the GLUT composition in the water sample based on the fluorescence intensity.
ANALYZER FOR AUTOMATICALLY DETECTING AND QUANTIFYING TETRAKIS(HYDROXYMETHYL)PHOSPHONIUM SULFATE IN BIOCIDE PRODUCTS
An analyzer is disclosed for detecting and quantifying a tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium sulfate (THPS) composition in a water sample. The analyzer includes a peristaltic pump and a three-way valve, where the peristaltic pump draws in a water sample that includes a THPS composition through the 3-way valve. The analyzer also includes a 6-way valve that receives the water sample and a potassium permanganate reagent, and a reaction coil in which the water sample and the KMnO.sub.4 reagent are mixed and reacted. The analyzer further includes a debubbler that remove bubbles from the mixture; and a flow cell that receives the mixture from the debubbler, measures an intensity of KMnO.sub.4 absorption in the mixture, normalizes the measured intensity by subtracting a background intensity, and determine a presence and a concentration of the THPS composition in the water sample.
System and method for chemical contamination detection and decontamination certification
A portable chemical contaminant detection system and related methods are provided. The contaminant detection system includes a portable detector having a probe and detector circuitry for detecting a predetermined contaminant in a sample. The system may also include a mobile device configured to wirelessly receive contaminant detection data from the portable detector and transmit the contaminant detection data from the portable detector to processor in real-time. The mobile device may be further configured to receive and display on the mobile device real-time contaminant level data processed by the processor from the contaminant detection data.
