A dishwasher and method for operating the same utilize a diverter valve to control via rotation the flow of fluid such as wash fluid or pressurized air to a rotatable conduit supported in the rack of a dishwasher. A valve member may be disposed at a predetermined rotational position about an axis of rotation of the conduit such that a fluid inlet on a rotatable valve body may be rotated to the predetermined rotational position to restrict fluid flow to the conduit.

A dishwasher and method for operating the same utilize a check valve in a rotatable docking port to control the flow of fluid such as wash fluid or pressurized air to a rotatable conduit supported in the rack of a dishwasher.

A dishwasher and method for operating the same utilize a rack-mounted rotatable conduit with a return mechanism that positions the rotatable conduit to a predetermined rotational position when the conduit is disconnected from a docking arrangement on a wall of a wash tub.

A dishwasher can include a tub defining a treating chamber receiving dishes for treatment, a spray system providing treating liquid to the treating chamber, a first dish rack located in the tub and having a bottom wall with inclined portions configured to cradle a glass therebetween and prevent the glass from rolling.

A method and appliance utilize one or more sprayers that are coupled to both a liquid supply and an air supply through a common hydraulic circuit such that both liquid and pressurized air can be supplied to the one or more sprayers. A common motor may operate both an air pump and/or a water pump of the appliance. A method and a dishwasher utilize a dock detection system to determine when a connector of a spray device is docked to a docking port provided on a manifold of the dishwasher. A movable divider may be used in some instances to selectively expose a deep portion of a rack, and a drawer may be used in some instances to provide access utensils stored underneath a divider. A movable portion of a bottom of a rack may also be used in some instances to provide different support surfaces in the rack at different elevations. A method and apparatus of a docking port arrangement for an adjustable dispensing device. The dispensing device may discharge a fluid and/or gas into the wash chamber. The dispensing device may be retracted into the wash chamber and extended out of the wash chamber. A gasket or portions thereof may be used for sealing and/or as an abutting structure during retraction into the wash chamber. The dispensing device may be, but is not limited to, a rotating spray arm. Two check valves may pivot together relative to a check valve plate.

A dishwasher can include a tub defining a treating chamber receiving dishes for treatment, a spray system providing treating liquid to the treating chamber, a first dish rack located in the tub and having a bottom wall tiered to form multiple levels defining an effective inclination angle for the bottom wall, and a second dish rack located below the first dish rack and having an inclined non-tiered bottom wall.
